Taxes Gone Wild!

If you happen to turn on a TV or surf the interweb this month, you will notice a plethora of advertising for tax preparation. In just over an hour of viewing last night, I saw no less than 6 spots.

Of course there is nothing illegal about a business advertising their services. I just find it amazing that we have reached a point in this great country that you have to pay someone to help you understand and file your taxes correctly. Does anyone else see a problem here?

I am not some radical that thinks we should pay no taxes. There are some basic Constitutional things like national defense that are worth paying the Federal government a portion of my income. And although I would argue that most of what is spent at the Federal level is completely wasted and unconstitutional, I will save that for a later blog.

What triggered this blog is the ridiculous notion that Americans will WASTE over 6 billion hours preparing their Federal taxes. A whole lot of time, money and effort will be spent attempting to avoid taxes, possibly in illegal ways. And it would be virtually impossible to know if you are breaking the law since there are now almost 4 million words of tax law that no human could ever fully consume. If you did break the law, how would you even know? Often, not even the IRS can tell you.

The tax code changes almost as often as the Texas weather, about every 15 minutes. There have been over 4,000 changes just in the last decade. In 2010 alone, there were over 500 changes! How could ANY citizen keep up with all of that.

Let's talk about economic drain. On top of the 6 billion man hours wasted, over $160 billion is wasted by people and businesses simply attempting to comply with this ever changing nonsense known as the IRS and tax law. Imagine $160 billion in economic stimulus. That might create a few jobs or even some new industries.

Its way past time to simplify the tax code. A very low, flat tax with virtually no freebies, deductions, or special favors for big donors and special interests would be ideal. Whether you earn $100 or $100,000,000, you pay the same percentage. The "rich" pay their fair share and so do the poor. Everyone has a stake in how their money is spent/wasted in DC. Businesses don't do silly things in an attempt to cook the books to avoid taxes. Its low enough and compliance is so easy, there is no need to spend money on hundreds of CPAs and attorneys. Businesses and individuals alike can focus on what really is important, the pursuit of happiness.

I suspect the net result would be an economic expansion as never before seen in our lifetimes and far less need for massive government handouts. As job growth and demand drives up wages, people may decide employment is in fact more beneficial than the scraps they get on the government plantation. And if Federal spending was drastically cut, you might witness a debt free America in your lifetime. That would be a hoot.

Fascism Comes With A Flag And A Cross

This quote has been seen flying around the interwebs recently:

"When fascism truly comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

It has been attributed to Sinclair Lewis, but there is some doubt that he is in fact the author. Lewis was Ivy league educated, a writer, an alcoholic and lived during the turbulent 30s, which was a high point in American history for the left's efforts to bring down the United States. People proudly and openly called themselves socialists, progressives, fascists and communists. Once the horrors of socialist Germany, fascist Italy and communist countries like China and the Soviet Union were revealed, many thinking people abandoned their desire to pursue regime change. The bitter clingers however went to Hollywood, academia, media and politics where they could continue their destructive work slightly below the radar.

The best source I have found for the original thought comes from, to nobody's surprise, a Yale professor as quoted by the New York Times in a 1938 story:

When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism’” – An uncredited New York Times reporter covering Halford E. Luccock in an article published September 12, 1938.

If you accept the left/right paradigm, I don't, socialists/communists/progressives/anarchists/marxists supposedly occupy the left of the political spectrum. Then on the right, are the fascists/nationalists/theocrats. The only problem with this view is the striking similarity between all these movements. Are they really that different? They all share a rejection of personal freedom. Observe:

1. A desire for equitable distribution of goods and services - Equalizing the misery for all but a select few rulers/overlords/bureaucrats. Sometimes now referred to as social justice - an oxymoron for another blog.

2. Worship of the state, leader or designated deity - Even if religion is tolerated, it is highly regulated by government. There is zero tolerance for any competitive religion or proselytizing.

3. Cult of personality around a supreme leader - Number 2 and 3 are very closely linked.

4. Eradication of private property and wealth - All wealth goes to the state, which is normally controlled by a supreme leader or limited circle of friends and family. If redistributed, it is totally at the whim of the supreme authority and normally granted based on one's status or relationship to those in power.

5. Confiscation of all weapons - Can't allow the people to protect themselves from criminals, the oppressive state Commissars, the religious police, or heaven forbid, risk a revolution.

6. Reeducation and eradication camps - From Iran to China to Viet Nam to Germany to Italy to Cuba to the Soviet Union, these anti-freedom movements have murdered millions of their own to further the political goals and protect the political system.

7. Inequality still remains - Even with a preponderance of evidence that these systems never deliver what they promise, people remain hooked on hopium. When government steals from one to give to another, nobody wins. Everyone gets poorer, with the exception of those fortunate few that get to do the stealing and the enforcing under the new all powerful government.

8. Controlled media and entertainment - Objective news journalism and media is replaced by state-controlled propaganda - see ABC/CNN/MSNBC/NBC/CBS/NY TIMES/Time/Hollywood/NPR etc. These once respected media outlets have become laughingstocks here in the United States by continually parroting the party line of the left. For most of the 20th century, the left had a virtual monopoly on news and entertainment, but the American people largely resisted their push to the left.

9. Government education - Better described as indoctrination instead of education. The collective good always comes first. Individual achievement is discouraged. Competition is viewed negatively because it might instill hope, or a desire to improve one's station in life above the state's desired limit of advancement.

10. Loss of freedom - You truly become a ward of the state - totally dependent on the all-powerful state. Any dreams and ambitions must be sanctioned by the state. Any progress or advancement is not based on merit, but based on loyalty to the state. Any disagreement or disloyalty results in arrest or eradication by the state. The state is your source for everything, including your very right to live.

The alternative to this is what our Founding Fathers created here in the United States. A group of citizens who consent to be governed. They created a contract known as the Constitution. This was to ensure that Freedom, which comes from God, not a state, could never be compromised by a state or corrupt President.

This system of government could never have come to fruition had it not been for the Christian worldview that freedom comes from God, not government. Without a benevolent supreme being establishing the bounds of morality, man becomes ruthless. Without Jesus as your personal Lord, you are a child of Satan. And his children are capable of the most horrific crimes against humanity. And without a commitment to intimately know God and His will, even a Christian can be influenced by the evil one. Jesus said HE would build HIS Church. As long as man keeps trying to do it without him, we will see religion, not God's Church with Jesus as the High Priest.

Now let's go back to the original quote - the concept that fascism will be implemented with the cross and the flag. The lefties like to trot this nonsense out to show that Christianity is somehow a threat to freedom. The freedom this country has enjoyed for most of its existence owes its very life to Christianity. If you can't see the hand of providence on this nation, you're blind. And you would be hard-pressed to find a non-Christian nation in the history of the world with the blessings of liberty to the degree Americans once enjoyed before the left's onslaught.

No historian worth a lick would ever call fascism pro-Christian. Even in Italy, where Catholicism reigned, there was persecution against all religions until Mussolini found ways to use the Vatican for his own purposes. In fact, the whole ugly, unbiblical concept of social justice has its roots in the Vatican and the religious left that have twisted scripture in ways in which it was never intended.

And while all "Isms" use religious and national symbols when needed to promote their agenda, there would be no substance, and certainly no acceptance of the traditional Christian worldview, which values freedom above all else. All the "Isms" would eventually seek to either change the message in the pulpit, or rid itself completely of Christianity because there can be no greater power than the state, and no worship of anyone else except those that are in authority or the "religion" they establish/endorse.

Note the recent visit of Valerie Jarrett, Obama lackey and proud lefty, to an Atlanta Church for a clearly political speech aimed at destroying opposition that stands in the way of government growth. I have read all the Words of Jesus. Never once did he call for people to depend on government for their survival. He taught quite the opposite. God is your source. Seek the Kingdom of God - God's way of doing things, and everything will be given to you (Matthew 6). Its hardly an endorsement for big government or social justice. And Paul reinforces the message against government dependence in 2 Thessalonians (3:10): The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.

The more government grows and the more problems they "solve" for you, the less freedom you have. I know its fun to paint Christians as the enemy, but there are far more dangerous forces in play. The choice is between liberty and tyranny. True Christians will always support Liberty. God is all about freedom. He gives you a choice. Believe Him and receive eternal life, or reject Him. He will defend your right to choose eternal damnation, all the while giving you every second of your life to change your mind because He loves you so much and does not want to lose a single person. Would the state and all the "Isms" give you this much freedom?

Double digit unemployment, flea-bitten malcontents occupying and agitating in our major cities, $15 TRILLION in debt and growing, and on the agenda of this administration is...wait for it...

A Christmas tree tax

The Department of Agriculture has since backed off of this lunacy, for now. They claimed it was merely a fee that would be used to help promote the fresh Christmas tree growers. But do they really need a government program to advertise Christmas trees? Its not like its the biggest holiday of the year or anything. And what about the artificial tree market and the mall Santas? How long before they start demanding their piece of the pie?

Whether its billion dollar bailouts for car companies, or a $0.15 tax on Christmas tress, does any private business really need or deserve taxpayer dollars? That is OUR money and should not be wasted beyond the Constitutionally mandated functions of the Federal government. It was never the intent of our Founding Fathers to take money from one group and give it to another. That sure has changed over the years.

If the Christmas tree growers feel the need to increase their price and pool their resources to fund a national marketing campaign, I applaud them. Give me a call and I will help with their marketing efforts. Just keep the government out of it.

Let's pretend that this is a good idea. Start with a small fee that gets passed down the distribution chain until the consumer has to absorb this increase in cost. Money is tight, so maybe they skip the tree this year, or go back to the artificial one in the attic. Government is now faced with a shortfall, so the fee becomes a tax and is expanded and added to all Christmas decorations. Do you see the insanity at work here?

Having been on this planet for a few years now, I know how government corruption works. We start with a small fee. Then, we need someone to manage these funds. And of course we need bureaucrats to monitor the money to make sure it is spent "wisely" and find new ways to regulate trees and anything holiday related. The media trots out "victims" of holiday trauma sounding the alarm that something must be done...for the children. Before long, President Obama recognizes the need to regulate all holidays, so with much fanfare he creates a whole new agency:

Staffed with the best and the brightest of Obama's campaign contributors and loyal supporters, America is stuck with yet another bloated agency determined to out mission creep the others. And of course the Democrat party has yet another large and growing staff of loyal voters determined to keep their gravy train a chugging along.

Naturally, American taxpayers will have to reach deep down and send in a few more dollars they don't have to keep this behemoth growing and functioning properly. How could we have a proper Winter Celebration with a beautiful Holiday Tree all decorated with OH DAMN approved ornaments and lights. And don't worry about those obnoxious carolers, OH DAMN would approve, license and monitor to make sure only OH DAMN approved Holiday Carols are performed by qualified OH DAMN licensed performers.

The Spring Bunny would bring us only the best OH DAMN approved chocolate bunnies in our Holiday baskets and the OH DAMN approved Spring Eggs would never be hidden, so as not to disappoint the little ones.

Bobbing for apples would no longer be a terrifying ordeal. With the OH DAMN approved water level and temperature monitors, safety always comes first. Turkey, don't even think about the hassle of preparation. You will be eternally thankful such a government agency exists to ensure Turkey Day and football watching parties are a blast.

I'm not sure how we have lasted for so long without OH DAMN to save us.

For those not fortunate enough to have attended the ivy covered walls of Brown, let's first discuss what Capitalism really means. Obviously, this young lady missed the discussion on this critical issue.

In its purest form, Capitalism is private ownership of wealth and property. With this comes the ability to conduct commerce and trade without any restrictions from government. It is simply freedom to conduct business the way you see fit.

America in its early days came as close to a pure capitalistic system as has probably ever existed. As long as government remained small and very limited, as the Founding Fathers intended, Americans prospered. We grew to be the wealthiest nation and greatest world power in the history of the world in less than 200 years! The "poor" in this nation have lived in opulence compared to most of the world's impoverished areas.

With just an idea and some elbow grease, the most recent immigrant or the poorest person could build a business empire that would employ thousands. Their accumulated wealth was then invested in other ventures creating more jobs, as well as philanthropic ventures like hospitals, colleges and religious endeavors.

But after several wars and political movements, government expanded to the point that private ownership is on the decline and commerce greatly inhibited.

Attempt to drill for oil, or farm on your property and host of federal, state and local alphabet agencies, along with radical enviro-nazi groups will make you wish you never even owned the land. If you attempt to leave your business to your children, the IRS will pounce and eat up your life's work in estate taxes. Build a better mousetrap, and all sorts federal agencies will attempt to regulate its manufacture and distribution. Consumer groups along with their attorneys will attack until you surrender the idea and/or give up your dream completely.

No matter how small the business, there is some government bureaucrat that will either tax, regulate, or destroy it. Even the smallest lemonade stand, a kids Summer income stream for decades, is not too small for government intervention.

Does this sound like capitalism to you?

But on to the point of the ivy league educated agitator - Capitalism is responsible for a lot of injustices in the world.

If that were true, what is the alternative?

Communism/Socialism - Where the wealth is concentrated in the hands of a handful, or even just one Dear Leader, and misery and poverty is spread equally to everyone else? With over 160,000,000 murdered victims to its credit, this doesn't seem to be a good alternative.

Theocracy - Where whack-a-doodle Imans make up laws as they go and decapitate you for the slightest offense? Islamic economies have accounted for over 270,000,000 deaths and counting. I'll pass.

Fascism - A cozy marriage of government and corporate interests designed to concentrate power and wealth in the hands of a select few people that control and manage virtually every business decision? Since there is a fine line between Communism/Socialism and Fascism, we could just as easily claim the same body count. But since so many historians try to make a case that they are all different, probably only a fraction of the Communism numbers.

I'm not going to waste my time exploring any other systems. They are all inherently flawed. America is not and has not been a capitalist economy in many years. One could make a good case that we have never been a true capitalist system. We are much closer to Fascism or Socialism than Capitalism these days.

When government can force banks to give loans to people with no credit and then promise to cover their losses when these mortgages go bad, that is NOT Capitalism.

If elected leaders choose business winners and losers by tax/regulatory policy or outright handouts, that is NOT Capitalism

Requiring citizens to purchase health insurance, while at the same time passing laws designed to destroy the private sector insurance market at worst, and at best driving the price up beyond the reach of the average citizen or business, thus forcing them to accept substandard government-run insurance, is NOT Capitalism.

Capitalism is not the problem, it is the solution. Growing an even larger and more corrupt government to "manage" private property and "redistribute the wealth" will not make anyone richer. None of the demands of the OWS crowd will result in more prosperous individuals or nation. You cannot take from one and give to another without impoverishing both!

I know the OWS crowd has a lot of silly demands. So here are a few of mine, they come from a pretty reliable source:

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me - God is your source - not the state, not Obama and not your fellow citizens. If you take the king's coin, you become his servant. Think about that if you are desiring money from the government. Do you really want to become a slave to the state? Or do you want the freedom to make choices for yourself on when and how to spend, invest and share your hard earned wealth?

2. Six days shalt thou labor and rest on the seventh - You will never get anywhere in life without working for it. God gives you the power to get wealth. But it only comes through honest labor. Sitting around banging drums in a park is not honest labor - especially once Soros' money runs out.

3. Honor thy father and thy mother - This goes beyond your birth parents, but includes your Founding Fathers who were pretty darn smart. They rightly knew the dangers of a mob intent on stealing from the treasury, which is actually stealing from your fellow citizens.

4. Thou shalt not kill - the correct rendering is murder. Carrying out justice or fighting in a war to preserve freedom or protect the innocent is not murder no matter what Jane Fonda thinks. BTW - Abortion is murder, but that seems to be permissible for the no shower types.

5. Thou shalt not steal - Guess what, if you are taking money from the government, they have stolen it from some poor citizen, therefore you are an accessory to theft. Government cannot and will not ever supply all of your needs, much less your desires. You need to find a more reliable source - see #1 and #2 above.

6. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor - The lies being spewed by the OWS crowd are disgusting. Please move to Cuba, China or some other 3rd world utopian hellhole if you think America is so bad. If a person starts a business and then builds it into a successful enterprise, they are not a villain, nor evil. They are not "taking" anything from you. For now, you may choose to spend your money, whatever the tax man doesn't confiscate, with whichever business you choose.

7. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, ass, wife or anything else that belongs to your neighbor - Imagine what life would be like if the OWS crowd took this commandment seriously. Who are the greedy ones? The people that have worked hard, invested and built a business, or the ones demanding that they "share their wealth."

And don't forget that you shall not make unto you any graven image to represent God or any other spiritual being. Adultery is not good either and it can be committed in your heart just by lusting for someone. And of course taking the Lord's name in vain has been quite popular with the agitating community. All of these push you further away from the love, peace and prosperity that you are demanding from Wall Street and the government, that can only come from God.

One final note, I find it interesting that the demands of the OWS crowd sound so eerily similar to Lenin's demands: end all wars, nationalize banks, equality of wages. Its simply 21st century Socialism regurgitated and repackaged for another generation of useful idiots to parrot. The people who lived and died under the oppressive Soviet government learned the hard way that Socialism always sounds good until you have to live, or die, under it.

America is not perfect. But at least there is still a flicker of freedom here. This is the reason so many people do their best to come to this country. It offers hope that only freedom can provide. That hope dies if/when the OWS mob gets their way. Something an ivy league graduate should fully understand if she were taught truth, not socialist propaganda.

Forget 9/11?

Liberal writers make me laugh. Take E. J. Dionne - I believe his initials stand for Embrace Jihad, but don't quote me on that. Dionne wrote a stunning piece on how we all need to forget 9/11 and get on with our lives. I may have to read it again. Because I believe he may have even quoted Rodney King, "Why can't we all get along."

It amazes me how quickly people forget history. 9/11 wasn't just an isolated incident. It was a meticulously planned mission designed to strike at the heart of America. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives within an hour. Had the 4th plane been successful, that number may have been even higher.

The terrorist attack on September 11 was just another in a long line of attacks and attempted attacks on America, Americans and American interests that have dated back to when this country was first founded.

Let's do a quick review of some of the more recent ones:

February 26, 1993 - World Trade Center Bombing

June 25, 1996 - Khobar Towers Saudi Arabia targeting US troops

As much as liberals would like to pretend that everything is all peaches and cream, there is obviously a determined enemy that is continually finding new ways to terrorize this country and its citizens.

Yes, America needs to be economically strong. But that will never happen with the current President and a Congress out for their own interests and not what is best for the nation. Economic strength can only come from shrinking government and reducing the insanity of Federal regulations and taxes. But not even that will help if we live in fear of yet another terrorist attack.

We ignored the terrorist threat during the Clinton administration, treating each new attack as a law enforcement matter. What did that get us? An even more terrifying attack.

GOP - Wealth Does Not Buy Wisdom

Supposedly overheard at a wealthy GOP donor confab:

I’m Republican but I voted for President Obama, because I couldn’t live with Sarah Palin.

I used to think people who worked hard and created a lot of wealth must be pretty smart, but now I wonder. Could this statement really be true, or is the state-controlled media pushing their "scary Sarah" meme.

The fact that they admit voting for Obama means they are either very stupid, or complicit in his efforts to "radically transform America." And the reason given was they "couldn't live with Sarah Palin!?"

Can someone please explain what was so objectionable about a pro-life, pro-domestic energy, pro-free market, fiscal Conservative, female Governor of our largest state riding an 80% approval rating as the VP nominee? Is this simply sexism? Or have we as nation been brainwashed to the point that we believe the radical left's characterization of Conservatives as far right radicals?

There is nothing radical about Classical Liberalism/Conservatism unless you are a committed socialist/marxist/statist/progressive. Either you are for freedom and limited government, or you want larger and more intrusive government, with far less liberty.

Contrast Palin with the Obama/Biden ticket that had zero executive experience, but plenty of experience in community agitation, plagiarism, government growth and Marxist dogma.

Did these wizards of smart not see Obama's interviews, read his writings and listen to his goals? They had to have been total political neophytes not to see what was coming under the Obama regime. Obama was quite literally suckled by the Marxist teat. His parents, grandparents, friends, professors, advisors and preacher were all committed radicals, terrorists and socialists. What could have possibly made someone think this guy was going to govern from the center after his election? Obama's first term will be as "centrist" as you will ever see from him. That should give everyone pause before the next election.

This will be the most important election in my lifetime and will have ramifications for decades to come where our freedom is concerned. I hope that even the wizards of smart use their brains this time before making donations or entering the voting booth.

We Are Now A Thugocracy

It is appalling what this man is willing to do. What possible purpose is served by scaring seniors with a threat like this. They did not run the debt up to $14 trillion. They are not responsible for all the waste, fraud and abuse. They did not vote for the union bailouts or the non stimulating stimulus. They did not hire scores of czars and grow government by the thousands. If there is any money problems Mr President, look in the mirror and at your own party.

Someone that cares about this nation would have heard the people loud and clear back in November of 2010. We are tired of the wasteful spending and the ever increasing debt. We want CHANGE. Not that hopey/socialist kind of change, but real change where Washington operates on a budget and does not spend more than it takes in. Why is that so difficult for the "most intelligent President ever?"

The national debt is an outrageous $130,000 per taxpayer and almost $47,000 per citizen. In what universe do we need to be borrowing more? I once read the following in a very good book. The wisdom of this short little verse is profound, but seemingly lost in the hallowed halls of government.

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Proverbs 22:7 ESV

Its well past time to stop being a borrower. With the wealth of resources God has given us and the freedom we should be enjoying, we should be the world's financier and leading exporter of energy, instead of groveling to China and the Middle East.

To solve Obama's debt crisis, we need more TAXPAYERS, otherwise known as EMPLOYED FOLKS, because the burden is already overwhelming those fortunate enough to be employed during the current administration's "fundamental change" of our country. The only hope we have to get out of this mess is to drastically cut spending, regulation and taxes. This will allow the private sector to create more jobs, grow the economy and produce enough revenue to balance the budget and retire the debt. Sucking more money out of the private sector prevents that from happening!

Here is my simple solution. No more golf games for Obama, and no more luxurious taxpayer funded vacations for the First lady, until enough government spending is cut to at least balance the budget this year. I know how much Obama likes golf and how much the FLOTUS enjoys free travel, but it is a sacrifice that is necessary. Maybe then the gravity of the spending/debt situation might get his full attention.

This is a wonderful article that hits the nail on the head in so many ways.

Sure they admired Palin for her positions and record. But there was also a feeling that she was a different type of politician in the sense that she appeared to be natural, not artificial or forced, an impression strengthened by the evidence gathered from the recent email frenzy which seems to suggest that what you get from Palin is exactly what it says on the tin.

Like the author suggests, I take the attacks and insults of Palin personally. I see a woman of honor and integrity in Sarah Palin. She sees the problem of dependence on overseas oil suppliers and the solution is simple - drill here, drill now! No special interests to coddle. No focus group tested slogans. It is a simple solution that most Americans would heartily agree with if given a choice. Killing our domestic energy sector, or betting taxpayer dollars on windmills and solar panels, is silly if not criminal.

When it came to Obamacare, we all knew what it was - socialized health care and a disaster in the making. For anyone who loves freedom, the mere thought of government having the power over your health is unacceptable. Few national pundits and politicians came forward fighting for our freedom. But there was Palin fighting for us, and with two simple words "death panels," nearly knocked the wind out Obama's sails. She said what many of us were thinking and with a voice that shook the halls of Congress. The problems we have with health care are directly related to government involvement. If you are trying to reduce costs and provide more access to quality health care, the solution is definitely NOT more government.

I could go on. There are so many problems we face as a nation and most are directly related to a government that is out of control and fighting against the will of the people and our liberty. The solutions are actually quite simple. Shrink government, reduce regulation and taxes and watch the economy grow. All we need is freedom to restore the greatness of our nation. All we need is a LEADER that is not owned by the establishment or special interests. All we need is Sarah Palin.

PETA Versus Al Gore Down Under

If the disciples of Al Gore's climate church squared off against the Australian versions of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals...I mean People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) or the Humane Society, who would win? Better yet, who would YOU root for?

It seems that the global warming Nazis down under have cooked up a swell scheme to kill all the camels. Not the cigarettes, but actual camels roaming the outback. Now I hear camel meat is tasty - I've never tried it. But the primary stated purpose is to reduce the global warming gases, Methane and C02, that the camels produce during the course of digesting plants.

Now, its been a few years since I studied biology and earth science, but I vaguely recall that decaying plants release...wait for it, Methane and C02. So if the camels are not eating the vegetation, would it not simply die and release the same amount of gas? Or, some other creature would begin to thrive now that the camels were not eating all the tasty green stuff, right? And then of course we would have those same gasses being produced by whatever animal took the camel's place in the food chain.

Camels are not indigenous to Australia. And there may be good reasons to reduce or remove the population down under. But the global warming hoax is not one of them. If the camels are causing harm to other native plants or animals, I can understand the need to reduce or remove their population. That seems like a sound policy. Although liberals sure went bat crazy when Alaska and Governor Palin were doing the exact same thing for much sounder reasons in Alaska. But liberal double standards are quite expected these days.

One final thought for you to consider. If the global warming zealots are willing to murder helpless camels in the outback to "save the planet," why stop there? I mean, humans release methane and C02 too. Will they put a bounty, give global warming carbon credits, or even Al Gore bucks for assassinating Conservatives, Christians, or God forbid, global warming deniers?

I have mentioned on various forums that Mitt Romney would stand a better chance running as a Democrat. Today, he made that point to a "packed house" in New Hampshire all the more true.

First off, global warming SHOULD NOT be a religion. What Mitt BELIEVES is irrelevant. Facts matter. If the earth is truly getting warmer, it is not, there is absolutely no proof that mankind has anything to do with it. In fact, even if man wanted to change the global climate, how could he?

The sun plays the biggest role in the earth's climate. And if you buy into the illogical view that CO2 is evil, by far, the largest CO2 emitters are the oceans, which make up 75% of the planet surface. Man, who only lives in any appreciable density on less than 10% of the earth surface - and even less from a volume standpoint, has virtually no influence on GLOBAL climate.

Even IF man was responsible for climate change, the solutions pushed by the global warming Nazis would do nothing except further destroy the economy. We cannot run a modern economy on windmills, solar panels, hope and change. You need power - oil, coal, gas and nuclear to drive the economic engine. As we have seen throughout Europe, and very much so in Spain, a "green" economy equals a stagnant, if not dying economy. Can the US economy get any worse - Yes It Can!

Romney has already made the bold move to cling to his health care debacle in Massachusetts (RomneyCare), which as luck would have it, was the model used for Obamacare - the worst legislation ever to come out of Washington.

I feel bad for the guy. He has campaigned so hard for so many election cycles, and is the darling of the GOP bigwigs. But his campaign for Conservatives was going nowhere before. And now with this foolish position on "global warming" established, his campaign for the GOP nomination is DOA.

I'm still thinking he has a chance as a Democrat though.

Adolf Hitler, who started WW2 and slaughtered millions, would probably be up there. Muhammad slaughtered and raped his way across Arabia and started a religion that for 1400 years has murdered, enslaved and raped its way from North Africa to India. He is certainly worthy of consideration.

Vladimir Lenin, Karl Marx, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Chairman Mao - and quite honestly every murderous socialist thug leader that has ever walked the planet deserves a mention.

From 2009-January of 2011, President Obama enjoyed 70 days of foreign travel, 176 days on domestic "trips," 35 day s at Camp Davis and 61 days on vacation. On top of that, he played 57 rounds of golf (which the MSM calls "mini-vacations"), which took up approximately half of a day each and therefore constitutes almost another month of vacation time. Add them together and President Obama enjoyed 371 days away from his job in Washington.

If we actually had an objective media, this would all be common knowledge. Unfortunately, modern journalism has devolved into a grotesque group of liberal cheerleaders with no regard for the truth or objectivity.

This is an outstanding video discussing the various media memes surrounding the War on Terror, President George Bush and the current POTUS. From the moment the airplanes starting crashing on 9/11, this country could have collapsed in fear and surrendered to the jihadists - which is what they had hoped for in the Middle East. But thank God we had a leader that took the fight to our enemies and laid the ground work to keep us safe when this country was feeling very vulnerable.

I personally believe that George Bush will be remembered as one of our great Presidents because of what he accomplished in protecting the United States from economic catastrophe and further attacks.

Under Bush, when gas prices jumped up, we had Congress doing interrogations of oil executives and the media going nuts with the stories of the coming apocalypse.

Flash forward to now and gas is hitting $5 dollars a gallon around the country. Now, the media gives us articles on how to be happy about higher gas prices.

Are these people insane? Do they even realize the impact higher gas prices has on the price of virtually everything?

But let's play along with their little happy fantasy. I think we should have a special celebration in honor of Democrats and Obama pushing gas to $5 a gallon. Hey, Cinco de Mayo is only a few weeks away! What a great opportunity to celebrate this great accomplishment. Margaritas for everyone. Drink until you forget about inflation!

Who Is This 'We' the POTUS Keeps Talking About?

The President gave a speech today at George Washington University on the national debt. Nope, that is not a joke. From the transcript:

The fourth step in our approach is to reduce spending in the tax code. In December, I agreed to extend the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans because it was the only way I could prevent a tax hike on middle-class Americans. But we cannot afford $1 trillion worth of tax cuts for every millionaire and billionaire in our society. And I refuse to renew them again.

Forget the mental gymnastics it takes to understand the "reduce spending in the tax code" nonsense and focus on the meat of that paragraph. Obama says "we" can't afford tax cuts. Who are the "we" in this statement?

Are these the millions of people receiving government handouts? Is this referring to illegals who are given free medical care? Or, is he talking about the millions of government "workers" who always get raises and pension increases, and even in the darkest of economic times, never lose their jobs?

Are those turtles that are enjoying their new taxpayer built tunnel in Florida part of this group? Or what about Cowboy Poetry festivals in Nevada, are they included? What about NPR, Planned Parenthood and ACORN, are they part of the "we" too? Do you include Obama's buddies in the "green" industry who valiantly chase green energy like Don Quixote?

I thought the "we" should refer to all Americans - especially those that go to work, pay their taxes and create jobs for others. But apparently this is not the case.

Exactly whose money is it Mr. President? Do I work for myself, or for you? Whether I make $1 or $100,000,000, that money belongs to me. You have no right to confiscate it. And based on your spending habits the first two years, even if you taxed everyone at 100%, you still could not pay for everything you want.

This is not a taxpayer problem. We have a SPENDING problem. We have a POTUS and Congress that have not only maxed out the nation's credit card, they have opened up several new accounts and are filling those up as I type.

Before you raise even one penny more in taxes, why don't WE cut spending until WE balance the budget with the existing revenue. And then WE can talk. You might even consider, lowering taxes as well. As this has proven time and again to increase tax revenue. Why you ask? Its very simple, if I have more money to invest and spend, more jobs are created, which means more taxpayers to share the burden. I guess they didn't teach that at whatever school you supposedly attended.

The Melting Pot

I remember years ago in grade school we were studying American history and politics. My teacher at that time was discussing America and the ideal we represent to the world. This was right in the middle of the Cold War. The Soviet Union was attempting to spread its form of socialism around the globe. Even in the relatively "free" Europe, socialism was destroying the economies of once global powers. But America stood alone as a beacon of hope to all those who yearned to be free, or simply hoped for a better life.

As we studied the birth and growth of this great nation, we were introduced to the notion of America being a Melting Pot. The idea was that the very best ideas from a multitude of cultures were blended to create a common culture that celebrates freedom. For decades, this grand experiment worked. Germans, English, French, Irish, Spanish, Asian and African immigrants brought their customs, food, language, music, ideas, inventions to our shores and the very best of each became part of a new and wonderful American culture. America's freedom allowed capitalism to thrive and create the most powerful and economically successful nation in the history of the world in just couple centuries.

Where did the Melting Pot concept go?

In the last few decades, the concept of a melting pot disappeared. In its place we have the scourge of multiculturalism, that wants to separate people by culture, sex, religion, race or any other way liberals see fit to divide this nation. Instead of immigrants embracing all that is good about this nation, they want to recreate their own little enclave here in America and refuse to integrate. They stick to their customs, language, dress and then wonder why Americans treat them differently.

America is a country of immigrants. We celebrate those that have arrived here LEGALLY and have contributed to the success of this nation. We hear the stories of families that lost everything in Viet Nam, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, China, Africa, Latin America or the Middle East, that come here with nothing but a dream and stand in awe of their struggle. These people come here, work hard, pay their taxes, obey the law and remain committed as a family to become AMERICANS. Within a generation, many of these are quite successful and fully integrated into society. They remember and honor their past culture, but they also EMBRACE their new home, America.

Love America Or Leave It!

There is not a major city in this country that does not have pockets of immigrants that have recreated their own little homeland. And there is nothing wrong with this as long as the ultimate plan is to assimilate into the culture of your new country. Learn the language, obey the laws and enjoy the freedom that America gives you. Leave the barbaric laws and practices of the old country behind and enjoy the fruits of western civilization.

Instead, we get groups like NCLR and CAIR that attempt to elevate or provide special privileges to certain cultural groups. Or even worse, encouraging illegal immigration or illegal activity. This must be stopped. We do not need another official language. English has united us quite well for over two hundred years. We don't need sharia laws. The Constitution, when it is upheld, works quite nicely. Nor do we need honor killings, rapes, terrorism, drug gangs, beheadings and all the other fruits that are staples in many parts of the rest of the world.

If legal immigrants or residents are not willing to live under our laws, or honor the values of this great country, its time to head back home. If you are not willing to learn the language and enjoy the American dream - Adiós, Aloha, Auf Wiedersehen, Au revoir, Shalom, Ciao, Chao, Hyvästi, See you later!

Just The Facts, Ma'am...

You have probably seen this little factoid posted on Facebook or anywhere else crazy folk might lurk:

Only 5 states do not have collective bargaining for educators and have deemed it illegal. Those states and their ranking on ACT/SAT scores are as follows:
South Carolina – 50th; North Carolina – 49th; Georgia – 48th; Texas – 47th; Virginia – 44th

Usually followed by the claim that Wisconsin (#2), and supposedly all union states, do far better than states that have rightfully outlawed or minimized collective bargaining for PUBLIC employees. Funny thing is, this claim has now been retracted. See here. Seems it was based on faulty data - their words, not mine.

But I am not surprised. This is standard practice for the loony left. They take some small statistic out of context to try and prove their point.

Blogger Iowahawk put the smack down on the premise above, so I don't want to repeat his noble work. You can see his original post here and the follow up here. He rightly pointed out the drastic demographic differences between states and the absurdity of using ACT or SAT as a ranking in the first place - especially if you are looking at cumulative score and not by ethnicity.

But I do want to take a look at the ACT numbers, of course by ethnic breakdown, to see just how collectivist states compare to free states. These numbers are for 2010.

Average ACT Composite Score 2010 (Evil free states in bold)

White students: Virginia 23.5, North Carolina 23.4, Texas 23.1, Wisconsin 23.0, Georgia 22.9, Ohio 22.5, South Carolina 22.1, Michigan 20.7, Illinois 20.1 (national 22.3)

Black students: Virginia 17.6, Georgia 17.4, North Carolina 17.4, Ohio 17.3, Texas 17.3, Illinois 16.7, South Carolina 16.5, Wisconsin 16.0, Michigan 15.8 (national 16.9)

Hispanic students: Virginia 21.6, North Carolina 20.3, Ohio 20.3, Georgia 20.1, South Carolina 19.8, Wisconsin 19.8, Texas 18.3, Illinois 18.0, Michigan 17.7 (national 18.6)

You don't want to form any definitive opinions from these numbers. Several factors might explain the difference. For instance, the amount of private schools and home schooled children per state may skew the results. Income and poverty levels may play a part as well. But it is interesting that the ACTUAL data is the complete opposite of what the left is claiming. Note that all 5 evil states are at or above the national average.

Conservatives do not want stupid children or underpaid teachers. We want a quality education system that rewards the best teachers based on merit. We do not want a system that is designed to reward laziness or incompetence. Nor do we want a system that is basically a money laundering scheme for the Democrat party - where dues go through the unions into the pockets of Democrat politicians, who then sit down with the same union folk and "negotiate" how to further screw taxpayers and ultimately the children.

Just so you know I didn't just make up the data (who would do that), here are the ACT scores and for further amusement, you can find all sorts of stuff on the Nation's Report Card.

Drill Baby Drill!!!

We have millions out of work, gas prices are going up - around $4.00 a gallon in some places, inflation and higher energy costs are raising prices across the board, and the answers to our problems are right in front of us. Is it ignorance? Or have we actually elected people who are purposely against American prosperity? I truly hope that is not the case. Most Americans, including myself, want to think the best of our elected leaders, but in times like these, you wonder.

Just in the two years of the current administration, we have seen them lending money to Brazil for deep water exploration. A foreign, state-run oil company can drill and even receive US government handouts, but our own privately owned oil companies are prevented by this administration from drilling in the Gulf of Mexico in defiance of a court order.

But forget the politics for a moment a consider the economic impact. A study was just completed by the University of Alaska Anchorage together with Northern Economics on the economic impact of drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf of just two areas of Alaska.

Now remember, this is just two relatively small areas of North America, but the economic impact is staggering.

Over 50 years, drilling in the Beaufort and Chukchi OCSs would generate $97 and $96 Billion respectively in revenue to federal, state and local governments.
An annual average of 54,700 jobs nationwide, with a payroll of $145 Billion over 50 years.
There is an estimated 30 Billion barrels of oil and gas reserves in the Chukchi Sea alone.

The US imports a significant portion of its oil every year, sometimes from nations that aren't so friendly and use oil revenue to fund the very terrorists we fight. There is no reason to believe that if other areas of North America were opened to exploration and drilling, America would soon become an exporter of oil, not an importer. The jobs created, increased tax revenue, lease payments and royalties, along with lower energy costs, would be a massive stimulus to the economy. And these would be real jobs, not show up and do nothing government union jobs that drain the economy of productivity and capital.

It really makes you wonder exactly whose side the current administration is on.

Bieber Politics - A Lesson

If you don't know who Justin Bieber is, don't feel left out, neither did I. But apparently he is the latest teen beat heartthrob to come down the pike.

I don't pay much attention to what celebrities "think." But it does sometimes offer an opportunity to explore a topic. In this case, we revisit the joys of socialism.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he calls the US medical system "evil" and then praises Canada's socialized medicine because "We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him."

It seems that, in typical liberal fashion, he has a bodyguard facing some high medical bills after a premature birth. What is odd, is that nothing in the story mentions why this person has no insurance and why on the same weekend that Bieber's film grossed $30 million is one of his employees faced with a lifetime of medical expenses. We can only assume that explanation is forthcoming.

I don't want to be too hard on the lad. He is only 16. Most kids that age should not be bothered with politics and using their brain for anything more than deciding what to eat for lunch.

But I did want to explore the whole socialized medicine debate from a completely different perspective. In a system like Canada, you pay exorbitant taxes that theoretically cover your medical expenses. Government bureaucrats determine what each procedure costs and in many cases forbid you to take certain medicines or tests for purely economic reasons. They also determine what health practitioners should earn. When demand is high, and health care providers few, the services are delayed and/or rationed. The incentive to find cures, new medicine or best practices does not exist - since there can be no profit motive in a socialized health care system.

Also, after spending 10 years in college/medical school/residency and a small fortune for the training, you may never see a real return on your investment. Having a steady government paycheck and being constantly overworked by people expecting the very best care for free, may not be worth it.

Now let's apply liberal logic to celebrity world.

Imagine that millions of Americans demand their rights to free music and free movies. Its in the Constitution, I swear! Some Democrat Congress critters agree and pass a law declaring that all movies and music will now be free.

Taxes are raised and every American can download music or go see a movie without paying a dime. In order to pay these actors/artists/producers, the government puts them all on a fixed income. And everybody is now happy, right?

Do you think Justin would work as hard if some government agency determined his income? Would he be as creative or innovative as every other artist/actor/producer on fixed government wages?

And that in a nutshell is what is wrong with socialized medicine. Without any motive to do better, or innovate, or generate more profit, quality drops and mediocrity becomes the norm. Instead of working hard to get ahead, just like unions have proven, everyone works as little as possible.

A true capitalist system is not evil. It brings out the very best of people. It gives them the freedom to succeed, or even fail, based on their efforts alone. It made the United States the most successful and powerful nation in the history of mankind in just a couple of centuries. There are nations that date back 5,000 years that have economies that are smaller than most of our states!

It really should be no surprise that virtually every major medical advance in the last several decades has come from the efforts of "evil" for profit companies here in the United States.

We have seen example after example of how horrible socialism is and how it retards everything it touches. And yet there are still, supposedly smart people in Washington, academia and Hollywood, that think it will work.

I completely missed this little nugget as I was freezing my butt off, stuck at home under about 6 inches of ice and snow...in DALLAS, TEXAS! Not that we don't have a little wintry weather every so often in Texas, it usually does not hang around for a whole freakin' week!

Although I do remember, in the not too distant past, the winter of 1983 in Dallas. White Rock Lake froze and we spent 12 consecutive days below freezing. Not sure where Al Gore was back then, maybe he was releasing his chakra.

Now I don't want to be too hard on Al Gore. He did invent the Internet and failed out of divinity school before realizing that politics was where he belonged. And you can't find a better training ground for becoming the Mother of All Charlatans than the US Government, especially as a Democrat.

Some time during the 20 or so years he haunted the hallowed halls of Washington, he became an expert on global climate. We know that is the case because he reminds us every chance he gets. Even made a movie about it and won some prize I think.

In the midst of the week long freeze in Dallas, Al Gore wrote a blog 'splainin' all this cold weather to us nincompoops out here who reject his sky is falling folly. You see, when it gets warmer, it gets colder. So says the anointed prophet of doom himself. Peace be upon him. No linky for Al, simply search for blog al com for February 1st. Its short and ridiculous, kind of like its author.

I almost pursued a degree in meteorology. I decided against it at the last moment when it became obvious that I was too tall for the camera. Who wants a meteorologist having to point down at Maine on the weather map. But I have always been fascinated with weather and climate, so that makes me about as much of an expert in the field as Al Gore. Maybe I should make a movie?

Commonsense screams that if the climate is warming, you don't get colder weather. But don't just take wisdom's word for it. Let's go to someone who actually STUDIES climate for a living.

No serious climate researcher — including the ones I disagree with — believes global warming can cause colder weather. Unless they have become delusional as a result of some sort of mental illness. -- Roy Spencer, Ph. D.

Dr. Spencer has spent 40 years researching climate and has worked with NASA and the University of Alabama at Huntsville and is a personal hero of mine in the field. He is a man that tells it like it is as you can see by the above quote.

I could write yet another lengthy blog showing once again how ridiculous it is to assume that mankind, even if he wanted to, could change the global climate. But hopefully we are well past that point. The global warming hoax has been thoroughly debunked numerous times. There are only a few crooks and hacks still pushing this in hopes of enriching themselves. Chief among these of course is Al Gore.

I almost feel sorry for ManBearPig. He has lied so much that he actually believes his own lies. He has personally and immensely profited from his doomsday proclamations. Honestly, jail seems too good for him.

But what sets him apart from all the other crooks in the world, is that his nonscientific ramblings have been used to terrify school children all over the world. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than lying and scaring children to the point of making them think their parents are criminals for driving an SUV or using electricity. That crap was done to me in the 70s and I will never forget how angry I was that teachers had lied to me about an imminent ice age and frightened children unnecessarily. That is just plain evil.

If you jail Bernie Madoff for his Ponzi scheme, surely there will be an appropriate punishment for the Mother of All Charlatans very, very soon.

This is in response to a blog that I read praising all the "great" things liberals have done to make our lives better. I am not going to link to it. Simply imagine all the Barbra Streisand ever written by liberals dumped into one blog. You know what I am talking about - Republicans want dirty air, poisonous water, untested medication, kill old people and minorities - the usual bilge from the left.

Here is the story of Dan Democrat.

Dan is unemployed now because liberals raised taxes and increased regulations to the point that Dan's employer could not compete with the rest of the world. And now that drilling is verboten in the US, and Federal spending is out of control, inflation will wipe out whatever savings he has managed to squirrel away. Maybe Dan could retire early? Nope, Social Security, the mother of all Ponzi schemes is bankrupt, so he can't count on that. His 401K plan was his last hope, but liberals have been scheming for years to nationalize those to shore up Social Security and union pensions that are also bankrupt. Only a matter of time - I mean it is for the good of the country right?

Dan would like to start his own business, but government red tape continues to prevent him from realizing his dream. Between permits, regulations, union corruption, and lawsuits, the risk is too great and the rewards all taxed away.

Education? Yea, Dan found that studying multiculturalism, socialism and being filled with a deep hatred of the US and western culture doesn't get you far in life - unless he wants to read the news on MSNBC or run for office as a Democrat. 60 years of liberal/union control of schools has produced some of the least educated graduates in the industrialized world, even after spending an average of over $9,000 per year, per student. Dan does think it odd that students taught in the home, by the 8th grade, are as much as four grades ahead of their peers in union-controlled, state run indoctrination centers, even with so much of a disparity in spending per student. But he feels guilty questioning government or Liberal orthodoxy.

In a moment of wisdom, Dan thinks that we could offer vouchers to students and free them from this academic slavery. Liberals are for choice when it comes to destroying life, right? But we can't have choice when it comes to education now can we. Have to keep those union bosses well compensated and those administrators enjoying the very best hotels and luxuries at their conferences. He quickly turns on CNN and switches back to drone mode.

Maybe he could get a green job? Nope, no money there either as Spain has found out. Might as well flush money down the toilet. Except we have to flush several times because liberal-mandated low flow toilets don't do the job effectively, wasting gallons of water with every flush. We already have "invested" billions of taxpayers’ $$$ in green energy for over 30 years and still can't figure out how to make a windmill or a solar panel drive a car or light a house without massive government subsidies.

All this stress has Dan feeling a little ill. Unfortunately, Obamacare has caused a massive flight of doctors out of the country and the profession. Although he feels pretty bad, its still not an emergency, so it will be three weeks before he can see a nurse. It will take up to five weeks to see an MD. Hopefully, its just a cold that will run its course and not something serious. But he takes some solace in the fact that all Americans, except those liberals in power, suffer from the same medical delays. But at least they have "free" health care.

Fortunately for Dan, it was just a cold this time. He never saw a doctor or nurse, but he still has his appointment scheduled - just in case. He did miss out on a few job opportunities that were filled by illegals while he was recovering. Liberals believe in open borders. It doesn't matter if Dan was harmed by unrestricted illegal immigration. Whether its fraud, or granting the right to vote to millions of criminals, Liberals simply lust for power and can't win with honesty. Besides, Dan knows the end justifies the means.

It looks like Dan is stuck on some sort of government handout. Like millions of Americans, many of which are liberals or vote for liberals, he will be totally dependent on a government check. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer "rich" Republicans left to tax and the Chinese will probably get tired of lending money at some point, or even worse come to collect it all back by force. Dan doesn't mind, Keith Olbermann is back on TV...somewhere.

Yep, now Dan's got it made - the gubmint gravy train. And any day now the government will start taxing the air he exhales, all in the name of "saving the planet." Life is grand living on the Liberal plantation. Al Gore be praised!

How Long Before Illinois Builds Walls and Barbed Wire Fences?

Under the current version of the bill, the individual income-tax rate would jump to 5%, from the current 3%, a 67% increase. That is more conservative than last week's proposed 5.25% rate, a 75% increase. Also, the corporate tax rate would increase to 7%, from the current 4.8%.

I have posted comments concerning Illinois' attempts to extort more money from its citizens in the past, including the ludicrous attempt to tax bottled water that failed miserably. Now, in a last ditch effort to chase every bit of wealth and business creators out of the state, they are jacking up income tax rates by 67%! Now this is not the law yet, but its pretty darn close to fruition.

When the trickle of citizens and businesses to low tax and business-friendly states becomes a flood, will they build a wall with gun towers and barbed wire to keep the serfs in the state? That seemed to work in East Germany.

No Labels?

Here is an interesting article from Big Government on the new group calling themselves the No Label movement. Here is an excerpt:

The “No Labels” approach is inherently contradictory. Simply by creating the group and giving it a name, it has been labeled. Now we have Republicans, Democrats, and No Labelers. While it claims to be inclusive, it seems to attract primarily those to the left of center, whether Democrats or Republicans. The thing is, they don’t consider themselves left of center; rather, they place themselves squarely at the center and conclude that anyone not of their ilk is a “wingnut.”

No labels, moderates, or whatever they call themselves, are fence sitters and prone to compromise (which always means agreeing with the left) in my opinion. Believe in something, take a stand and be passionate. If you don't know what to believe, study our founding history and ask yourself if modern America reflects the the dream of our Founding Fathers. There is a very good reason there is not a museum or any books that honor "Great Moderates in History."

I found it interesting that the writer listed Christian, American, Conservative and Republican as his personal labels. I totally agree with the first 3. I have hard time calling myself Republican though when so many so-called Republicans are DIABLOs - Democrat In All But Name Only. They destroy the Republican brand when they continue to vote for leftist causes.

At the very least, stand for freedom. Every new government regulation, tax, expansion and law is an infringement on liberty. People need to wake up to this fact and resist the rapid growth of government before its too late.

Global Warming Updates...

Global warming agitation has had numerous setbacks recently. First, it was the corrupted data that hid the decline in temperatures. And of course mother nature hasn't cooperated as temperatures continue to defy the weather "experts" and decline - sometimes in spectacular fashion.

So it is with great sadness we find that the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the outfit that was created to profit, I mean trade carbon offsets has closed. The organization was a who's who of Democrats and their cronies hoping to enlarge their fortunes by forcing Americans to pay for the right to use energy. Here is an excerpt from a great article on the subject.

Its (CCX) planning was initiated thanks to a $345,000 grant from the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation to Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management to study and test the viability of a future carbon-credit market.

This transaction occurred when a young community organizer, Barack Obama, served on the Joyce Foundation's board of directors, along with his mentor, present White House advisor Valerie Jarret. Eventually Joyce Foundation startup contributions for CCX totaled about $1.1 million, and its president, Paula DiPerna, later left the organization to become executive vice president of CCX.

If you are awake and breathing, you should have figured it out by now. The global warming campaign has nothing to do with changing the climate. The reality is that the climate is way too large and complex for man to have any real impact, except on a very local level. It has always been about transferring wealth first to poor nations, who are kept in squalor by the green Nazis and not allowed to industrialize and develop. A side benefit would be to transfer wealth into the hands of Barack Obama, Al Gore, Franklin Gaines and a host of liberals who like wealth, as long as they are the only ones that have it. For the industrialized world, we get to see our way of living destroyed and our hard earned tax dollars sent overseas. Bring on Cap and Tax!!

But don't be alarmed, the green army marches on. Spending billions in taxpayer dollars and burning tons of fossil fuels, they converged on "sunny" Cancun to decide the fate of the world. You would think people so concerned about the environment could figure out a way to video conference. But that wouldn't be any fun.

And quite predictably, Cancun experienced the coldest temperatures in a century during the conference and toga party. It has become a tradition that whenever green Nazis meet, count on some defiant weather extreme.

That the Cancun summit was never a climate conference at all has become increasingly obvious. Even before it began, IPCC Working Group III co-chair Ottmar Edenhofer said, COP-16 is actually “one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War…. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy.” In fact, it has “almost nothing to do with the environmental policy.” Its real purpose “is redistributing the world's wealth and natural resources.”

This day in history - After being surrounded at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge (WW2), the acting commander of the 101st Airborne, Brigadier General McAuliffe, received a written surrender request from German General Luttwitz. McAuliffe replied, “NUTS!”

For a few days, it looked like much of the gains after the Normandy invasion might be lost during a German counterattack into Belgium. After initial success, the Allied forces rallied and sent reinforcements to Bastogne, a key city that controlled several major roads in the area. The reinforcements included the 101st Airborne and elements of the 10th Armored Division and the 705th Tank Destroyer Battalion. Facing them were 4 German divisions including two armored divisions that surrounded the city.

The Allied forces held out for 7 days until clear weather allowed for supplies to be dropped and the arrival of reinforcements ended the siege.

For a week in December of 1944 things looked bleak. But it was the moxie of American leaders and fighting men that snatched victory from defeat.

Its that same attitude Americans need right now. We have seen the incredible assaults on freedom and the destruction of jobs during the last two years - Obamacare, Cap and Tax, Net Neutrality, Union Expansion (Card Check), as well as Drilling Moratoriums.

We have watched our money, that we don't even have, wasted on bailouts, turtle trails, reparations to black farmers who never set foot on a farm and every other idiotic liberal wet dream and wealth transfer imaginable.

Time after time we have seen tax cheats and ethically tainted Democrats retain their positions or even get promoted and never pay the penalty for breaking the law.

Its time for real Americans to say, "NUTS!"

The real change starts right now with a new Congress.

We will fight to turn the tide of socialism and reign in a government completely out of control.

We will rid the Republican Party of DIABLOs (Democrats in all but label only) - If you are going to support socialist causes by voting with Democrats, why soil the GOP label?

We will elect leaders in 2012 that believe in America, believe in freedom and will defend the Constitution.

And to those hellbent on destroying this country and turning it into some glorified 3rd world hellhole, we say, "NUTS!"

Deconstructing Tingles...

Chris Matthews, Mr. "thrill up my leg" himself, hosts a show called Hardball. Since few people watch it, I thought it would be helpful to post a video and let you see what you are missing. You can also access the video here if you have trouble viewing it.

This segment deals exclusively with Sarah Palin, a favorite target of the far left. His guests are Richard Wolffe, some schmuck from the ultra liberal MSNBC network, and Jay Newton-Small, a hyphenated lady from Time, one of the many Democrat house organs still in circulation despite rapidly declining numbers.

At the start, you will notice that all three have a profound hatred and obsession with Governor Palin. The tone is snarky and condescending and really unworthy of professional journalists. But then again this is MSNBC, where even Herr Goebbels would be envious of their methods.

The left long ago created a narrative on Palin. She is dumb, a diva, not well-read, a hick etc etc. Of course none of this is true. But if you repeat it enough times, even liberal simpletons will believe it to be true. Matthews starts the interview by insinuating that Palin does not answer her own interview questions. He has no proof, but liberals love false accusations and truth really does not matter to them anyway. Remember, its the seriousness of the charge that matters.

They then comment on her interview with Barbara Walters, a woman who jumped the shark before the invention of watercraft. Barbara, doing her best Katie Couric impression, asks Palin what she reads. Why this is relevant we will never know. Frankly, I would find it very condescending and I am not a former governor. The video was edited so that only a few sources were listed reinforcing the meme that Palin is uninformed.

One author mentioned that does not get cut is C. S. Lewis, who Richard Wolffe mocks as a "children's book author." Yes, Lewis did write the Chronicles of Narnia, a beloved children's classic, with a not so subtle Christian message. But he was also one of the premier Christian apologists of the 20th century. Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters and Surprised By Joy, along with many other titles by Lewis, are Christian classics. According to the left, liberals are smart and well-read. Are we to assume Mr. Wolffe is simply ignorant of all the works by Lewis, or was he purposely trying to disparage Governor Palin for appreciating one of the great writers of our time? I assume its a little of both.

Chris then segues into his wish that all candidates should be forced to take a test, again implying that Palin might not pass this test. Frankly, I would like to see the same be done for TV personalities. I wonder if these three would pass a test that I would create.

And of course we have the feigned outrage over her slip of the tongue, where she mistakenly said Reagan went to college in California. Yep, you could travel to all 57 states, with one to go, and never find a liberal prone to gaffes like that.

And oh my gosh, Sarah Palin hunts! This is something I have personally experienced in my travels to the blue states. Liberals have an irrational fear of guns and a hatred of people who enjoy hunting. These same people wear leather and fur. And they consume all types of meat. But the thought of someone cutting out the middleman and bagging their own food sends them off the deep end. There are over 45 million hunters in America and several million more gun owners. Tingles might want to rethink his opinion on hunting.

And of course they quoted the "brilliant" screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who was displeased that Palin was a hunter. Why anyone in America would care what any Hollywood leftist has to say is a mystery. But if I'm looking for an opinion on just about anything, I would go with the former governor rather than a serial drug abuser.

I realize Hardball is not news. I assume it is supposed to be entertainment. It certainly is a window into the soul of the left. And by the way, I know this post was quite snarky. Tingles brings out the worst in me.

Who is the most powerful Conservative voice in America today?

Who single-handedly reframed the health care debate and drastically slowed the onslaught of the government takeover with nothing more than a Facebook post?

Who after resigning an elected position (which was the right decision for the people of Alaska in the face of frivolous Democrat manufactured ethics charges that were costing taxpayers money and paralyzing state business) is an even more powerful national figure?

During the last Presidential election, which of the four candidates for POTUS and VPOTUS had the most executive and business experience, and was the most familiar with life in the real world?

Who has become a Conservative kingmaker even in faraway local elections?

Who has the most experience working with the energy industry, the lifeblood of a growing economy?

Who is a fundraising and base-energizing dynamo?

Who represents the interests of most Americans when it comes to the most important issues - lower taxes, limited government, stopping the global warming hoax and national defense?

Whose books are both best sellers?

Who turns leftists into foaming at the mouth lunatics, even more so than usual?

Who is most feared by the elitists in New York and Washington, the same folks largely responsible for the current mess in DC?

Who truly is a compassionate Conservative in word and deed?

Sarah Palin is not perfect - nobody is. But she is the strongest Conservative voice in America, and at this point, the best hope to stop the carnage in Washington. If someone better emerges, fantastic. The more strong Conservative leaders the better. I will rally around the one that shares my passion for freedom.

I don't even use the term RINO (Republican In Name Only) to refer to most Republicans these days. They are Democrat-lites, or as Mark Steyn so brilliantly labeled them, DIABLO (Democrat In All But Label Only). I'm tired of them compromising our freedom away. We can't afford any more "hope and change."

I would think all Republicans, Conservatives, or even a few DIABLOs could support limited government, lower taxes, strong national defense and opposing the global warming hoax with its evil "solutions" proposed by AlGore and the UN.

That doesn't sound too "radical" or "right-wing" to me.

As for me, I support Sarah Palin. There are few Conservative leaders on the horizon that have inspired me like Palin. Maybe that makes me a "nutcase" or maybe I am just a patriotic American that loves this country. But until someone else takes up the Conservative cause and stands up to Washington, she's my best hope. And I will not let the propaganda arm of the Democrat party, the mainstream media, or a bunch establishment kingmakers, or even Ivy League-trained pinheads decide who will be my nominee. Been there, done that, and didn't even get a freakin' commemorative T-shirt.

Whether its Palin or some other nominee, it will be a Conservative that loves this country and is committed to reversing the curse of the last few years and actually draining the stinky swamp that is DC.

Too Many Morlocks, Too Few Eloi...

At times, we need a reality check.

People we have over 64 million people completely dependent on some form of government handout. That number will surely expand as 77 million baby boomers retire. And it will grow even more if we suddenly grant citizenship and freebies to millions of illegal aliens. Let's not forget the millions and growing civilian employees who receive a paycheck from the Federal government, which is another liability taxpayers have to cover. Add to that the billions we will spend for the bureaucracy and health care costs under Obamacare - see Medicare and Medicaid for a preview. 60% of the budget is already entitlements (Social Security, Medicaid etc) and interest on the debt and that is BEFORE Obamacare!

Its simple math. Half the population and growing pays virtually no Federal taxes (less than 3% of the entire tax burden), but continually wants more freebies and handouts. Regulations, lawsuits, high taxes and unions keep driving businesses to other countries reducing our tax base and putting more people in the unemployed or underemployed category. The ultra rich, like many Democrats and their supporters, can leave the country or hide their money - see Soros, Rangel, John Kerry etc. There is simply not enough of us ordinary "rich" folks to create or maintain the socialist utopia where everyone has free health care, never works and has a pony in their backyard.

Or put another way, the Morlocks will soon outnumber the Eloi. After they consume all the Eloi, will the Morlocks turn on each other?

Democrat Senator Rockefeller on free speech:

"There's a little bug inside of me which wants to get the FCC to say to FOX and to MSNBC: 'Out. Off. End. Goodbye.' It would be a big favor to political discourse; our ability to do our work here in Congress, and to the American people, to be able to talk with each other and have some faith in their government and more importantly, in their future."

One of the most cherished rights protected by the 1st Amendment is the Freedom of Speech. This was meant to allow people, even with differing views, to express them freely. It was hoped by our Founders that having this right would help guarantee that no elected official would ever be able to suppress those he/she disagreed with.

But here is a senior Senator, openly hoping that a Federal agency would shut down media outlets and stifle free speech! Especially, those that oppose him. Make no mistake about it, this was aimed at Fox. PMSNBC was just thrown in the mix to make it sound like he was somewhat balanced.

I'm old enough to remember when all we had was Democrat talking points fed to us daily by ABC, CBS, PBS and NBC. There was no Conservative talk radio and the newspapers, as they are today, were dominated by liberals. There was no counter to the liberal message for almost 40 years! Even after cable networks emerged like CNN, they were even more extreme in promoting the leftist agenda.

Finally, Conservative talk radio emerged followed by the Internet and Fox News. They provide a balance to the obviously biased news sources that existed for most of the modern era. They are the opposing view, and more often than not, present the most balanced view of world events. When you've received your news from the very biased ABC, CNN, Time, New York Times etc all your life, Fox will look very partisan. But there is a reason they are so successful - Americans are tired of the propaganda from the dinosaur media and want the truth.

The Senator longs for the days when he could destroy the country and the news media would celebrate him. He does not want to be challenged. My God, he's a Senator! Us serfs need to shut up and mind our manners.

Frankly Senator, I have NO faith in my country's leadership precisely because of idiots like you. You have sworn to protect the Constitution, and yet you would undermine it in a heartbeat if you thought you could get away with it.

Hopefully, the folks in West Virginia will make sure this putz is sent into retirement the next time he is up for election. I might even watch it on Fox.

An outstanding article from American Thinker

The point of the tax debate must be the principle that every man -- rich, middle-class, or lower-class -- has the right to keep as much as possible of what he has honestly earned. It is this foundation of freedom and property rights that is being ignored in the increasingly complicated political debate over an elusive definition of how to promote "growth" for the country.

I have never understood why anyone should be forced to pay a higher percentage in taxes. And I find it ridiculous that nearly half of the country pays absolutely nothing when it comes tax time.

The tax code needs to be simplified to one very low rate with little or even no deductions. Even the very poor should contribute something - even if it is symbolic. Then, we might have some fairness and a vibrant and growing economy once more. When it comes election time, liberal voters might think twice before voting for people hell-bent on raising taxes to pay for their spending orgies.

The Buck Stops Here?

Not too long ago, President Harry Truman had a sign on his desk that read "the buck stops here." It was meant to make sure people understood that he was a man of action and was not going to blame others for his mistakes. As a leader of the free world, you lead, not make excuses.

Most of the inhabitants of the White House since that time and to varying degrees, adopted the same mindset. They took credit for their success and responsibility for their mistakes. That is what good leaders do.

It has been three years since the Democrats took over Congress with Obama as a Senator, when he wasn't off campaigning. And almost 2 years since he was elected POTUS. And yet once again he was in Texas and Georgia blaming the Bush administration for the current economic mess.

When your administration has literally destroyed jobs - car dealerships in the automotive takeover and oil field workers with the drilling moratorium, and stifled all job growth through new taxes and the threat of even more with Obamacare, its time to start taking some responsibility for 10% unemployment and a shrinking private sector. And you need to take responsibility for the housing/financial meltdown that had many Democrat fingerprints all over it.

An honorable leader would not be acting like a child blaming someone else. But I will save that for another blog.

Drain the freakin' Swamp, Nancy!!

Remember when Nancy Pelosi promised to "drain the swamp" of corruption. Well, the swamp is alive and expanding every day. Charlie Rangel is yet another Democrat that does not believe laws were meant for the ruling class. He is charged with 13 ethics violations, some of which might land us ordinary folks behind bars. But not Charlie, he is a leftist hero. He even has a monument built in honor of himself paid for with taxpayer dollars.

When challenged about this ridiculous waste of our money and the audacity to build a library and education center at a university named for a sitting Congress critter, himself no less, this is how he responded:

"I would have a problem if you did it, because I don't think that you've been around long enough that having your name on something to inspire a building like this in a school."

So, if you are able to gerrymander a district, get elected, feed at the government trough for 40 years, break laws with impunity, THEN you have the right to waste taxpayer dollars on yourself. Got it!

A man with even the slightest bit of integrity would have long ago resigned in shame. But when you have Nancy and the rest of Democrats flying cover, you are able to disregard the law with impunity. It would be nice to think that Rangel is the exception, but he is in fact the poster child with what is wrong in Washington. A bunch of fat cat crooks that think and act like they are royalty - completely above the law.

And a final thought, remember this gem from our beloved Speaker Pelosi in 2006?

"The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history,"

An Elite Speaks...

In discussing Sarah Palin's comments regarding the horrific decision to build a trophy mosque next to the 9/11 site, Ross Baker a "political scientist" from Rutgers had this to say:

The Washington elite has had more experience than the general public in spotting phonies and opportunists who line their pockets by feeding raw meat to gullible people.

There is so much wrong with that sentence I don't know where to start. The "Washington Elite" couldn't spot a phony if they stared into a mirror all day. Phonies and opportunists are what has made a mess of our Federal government. Insider deals, corruption, favoritism, cronyism make DC "work." And the Democrat machine has become experts at selling their crap to "gullible people" for decades. How's that war on poverty going? Have we won it yet? Did you plug that hole daddy? Can I really keep my doctor and health care under Obamacare? Are those borders really more secure than ever?

You know there was an earthquake in Washington DC a short time ago. And even though I would not want anyone to lose their life or get hurt, it does bring me some satisfaction to know that if the earth suddenly swallowed DC, America would keep humming along and be more prosperous than ever. Washington elites need us. But we don't need them.

The Ruling Class...

This is an excerpt from an article in American Spectator. It is a little lengthy, but an excellent analysis of the country at present and the forces that oppose freedom.

The ruling class's appetite for deference, power, and perks grows. The country class disrespects its rulers, wants to curtail their power and reduce their perks. The ruling class wears on its sleeve the view that the rest of Americans are racist, greedy, and above all stupid. The country class is ever more convinced that our rulers are corrupt, malevolent, and inept. The rulers want the ruled to shut up and obey. The ruled want self-governance. The clash between the two is about which side's vision of itself and of the other is right and which is wrong. Because each side -- especially the ruling class -- embodies its views on the issues, concessions by one side to another on any issue tend to discredit that side's view of itself. One side or the other will prevail. The clash is as sure and momentous as its outcome is unpredictable.

The "country class" are the millions of Americans who go to work, create jobs/wealth, pay taxes and otherwise make the country work. Without the support of these people, the ruling class is doomed. Unfortunately, the ruling class exists in both parties. While the Republicans will occasionally find a Reagan that believes in and supports freedom, he will be surrounded by others who disagree - who are eager to grow the government and their own interests.

In the 18th century, Patriots stood up to a distant government that ruled against the will of the people. They were raising taxes, passing onerous regulations, and constantly infringing on personal liberty. In short, England was not behaving responsibly. Is Washington in 2010 that much different? We have a Federal government suing Arizona for merely trying to stop the flood of illegal immigration that is bankrupting the state and is a source of increasingly violent crime. We have a POTUS destroying the oil industry in the Gulf by Presidential decree, even after the courts have struck down previous attempts at this gross overreach. We have an unconstitutional takeover of health care and nationalization of automobile manufacturers. Is this what our Founders imagined when they declared their independence and formed this nation?

This next election is an important step to bringing sanity back to Washington and reinstating our Founding Father's correct notion of limited government. Let's make it happen.

Hands Across The Sand...

Useful idiots was the term Stalin used for communist sympathizers in the West. These were usually reporters, academics and students too dumb to realize how horrible life would be under totalitarian rule. The term can also be applied to progressives, its really just a fancy way of saying socialists. They desire the same things: massively large government, wealth redistribution and limited freedom.

Which brings me to the latest progressive laugher in the news. Literally DOZENS of folks around the country turned out to demonstrate against oil. The Hands Across the Sand protest brought out all the usual fruits, flakes and nuts in a valiant effort to stop drilling for oil.

Carrie Dolwick of the Sierra Club cried, "It's time to stand up to the oil industry. It's time to move America beyond oil and into a clean energy future."

And then she climbed into her 12 mpg suv and drove home on roads made partially from and with the use of oil. In her vehicle, she was surrounded by oil byproducts. Tires, gasoline, oil, lubricants, upholstery, CD player, dashboard, refrigerant, battery, speakers, oil filters and on and on have their genesis with petroleum. What is a good environmentalist to do?

And what did she find at home? Well, unless she lives in a tree, the paint on her house comes from oil. Without oil, the house would not even exist as all the materials had to be moved to that location. From the roof to the plumbing, you will find products that had their origins in petroleum.

The cute plastic button along with the ink used to write that catchy poster slogan, you guessed it, come from oil. The clothes along with the laundry detergent to wash them every other month are oil derivatives.

And there are many more oil products we use every day. Although being a leftist hippy type, she may not use deodorant, shampoo and shaving cream, but if she did, she would be a hypocrite.

Petroleum is the life blood of a modern economy. Without it almost every field of human endeavor would suffer. There are literally thousands of products from plastics to medicine that owe their existence to petroleum. You can see a partial list here.

Oil occurs naturally and seeps into the ocean without any help from man. It is not limited. We have seen the known reserves continue to increase even after chicken littles in the 70s swore we were on the verge of running out of it.

We do suffer, here in the states at least, from an unwillingness to aggressively pursue it. It takes an act of God to get permission to drill, and a Moses-like performance to part the bureaucratic red tape. The same goes for nuclear, which is the safest and cleanest source of electricity, but I digress.

Drilling creates jobs. Remember those? After almost 2 years of double digit unemployment, several thousand more jobs would be nice. The recovery and marketing of oil produces tax revenue from lease payments and oil profits. It creates wealth that circulates into the economy creating more jobs from transportation and other related industries.

And best of all, that wealth would stay in US hands and not bankroll people and despots who hate us and would force even female progressives to wear burqas - which might not be a bad thing if they were living a petroleum-free existence.

Thank God For Conservative Women!

Shake Shake Shakedown...

Epic Fail. That is all that needs to be said about this administrations handling of the BP oil spill. The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 provided the road map for the administration. Instead it was golf outings and listening to a drunk Beatle at the White House make a fool of himself.

Several countries that specialize in cleaning up oil spills offered help immediately after the accident, but this administration declined. Among these the Dutch, and as many as 22 countries in all with ample experience in skimming and dredging. The reasons why some were refused, or greatly delayed, we can only guess. Ineptitude, a desire to capitalize on a oil disaster to push their green fantasies, protection of their union buddies by not waiving the Jones Act, only Obama knows the reasons. But it might explain the steep decline in his approval rating as oil washes up on the Gulf Coast.

Now that they have allowed a major spill to become an epic disaster, they are using the crisis to further their agenda - higher taxes and the destruction of our energy industry. At a time when hostile nations are drilling off the coast of Cuba, and we are sending money to Brazil for them to drill off their coast, do we really want to destroy our capacity to harvest our own energy? Is it really smart to sink trillions more into windmills and solar panels, both of which have proven to be woefully inefficient decades after Carter started wasting our tax dollars on them both.

And now, over and above the potential litigation that BP will invariably endure, the administration has strong armed them into setting up a $20 Billion dollar slush fund. Representative Joe Barton correctly called it a shakedown. Of course this got all the liberals' panties in a wad. But imagine how they would have acted if Bush had attempted this against one of their favored companies?

But the most ironic part of this sad tale, is that Obama has also forced BP to set aside a $100 Million fund for oil field workers that lose their jobs. Now why would they lose their jobs? Because Obama has put a moratorium on offshore drilling. Do we ground all airplanes after a crash? Is there any other country on the planet suspending their drilling activities onshore or off because of this accident? This isn't even the largest spill in history, not even close. And had the government acted appropriately, the damage could have largely been contained. So why destroy jobs and send rigs overseas? We can only wonder.

It is estimated that Obama's drilling ban would cost Louisiana 20,000 jobs and an untold number nationally. Now why in the heck during the worst economic period since Carter's disastrous reign, would you further destroy jobs? Especially when you consider that this administration has destroyed more jobs than it will ever create. In fact, only 20,000 private sector jobs were created in May. But they did create 400,000 temporary government jobs (Census), so they got that going for them.

On the bright side, look for higher gas prices this Summer. Hope and change!

One more thought - Leaders are made during difficult times. After 9/11, Bush immediately took the necessary steps to make sure our economy was strong and no further attacks would be successful. During Katrina he was wrongly blamed for the gross ineptitude of local Democrat hacks who couldn't figure out how to evacuate their own citizens and refused Federal aid until it was almost too late.

Contrast that with Obama's first two years, which half the country would call a total disaster. Numerous terrorist attacks, a faltering economy continually made worse by more government spending/programs, and now an environmental disaster, made worse by an administration hellbent on destroying our energy, fishing and tourist industries in the Gulf. It boggles the mind how any Americans still approve of this administration.

Obama and his minions have been doing their best to paint TEA Party protesters as racists or violent extremists - calling their ideas "dangerous." As if defending the Constitution and personal freedom is somehow a bad thing.

This morning in an interview with Matt Lauer, Obama continued this refrain with this little gem:

“There's a part of the Tea Party that actually did exist before I was elected … where there’s some folks who just weren’t sure whether I was born in the United States, whether I was a socialist."

Seeing how he has spent millions preventing one shred of evidence from being released to end the speculation on his natural born status (a Constitutional requirement for POTUS BTW), the questions do have merit. But I will leave that for another blog. The real issue is his political beliefs. Is he in fact a Socialist? And that is clearly the case.

Since he started his reign, we now have government ownership of auto manufacturers, student loans and now health care. Obama's administration has attempted to control payroll decisions of private financial companies and grown government at a pace heretofore never seen in this country. Of course he is a socialist.

He was the one that campaigned on a platform to "radically transform the country." We certainly aren't seeing the expansion of personal freedom during his time in office.

The reason the TEA party movement keeps growing is a reaction to the things he is doing. We do not want to see our country "radically transformed." We have the best health care system in the world and cherish our freedom. We believe the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and really don't like seeing that precious document treated like it is toilet paper by the left. If I wanted to live in Cuba, Venezuela or some other 3rd world nation run by a tyrannical despot, I would freakin' move there!

President Obama, you are a socialist. Stop the crying, and blaming George Bush for your failures. Be a man and admit that you truly believe government should run everything. It would be much easier to respect someone who stands up for something, instead of continually lying about their core beliefs.

Life After Utopia...

Well, that sucks. A secret vote on the weekend, a stroke of a pen, and freedom takes a kick to the groin. As true patriots scramble to find a way to correct this travesty, I thought a better approach would be to examine what life might be like if we applied progressive logic to all of society's ills. If the goal is "social justice" what about all these inequalities?

Thousands of pets die needlessly every day without pet insurance or guaranteed free access to a veterinarian. This is unacceptable in America. We need government-run pet care. We'll put a tax on pet food and supplies to pay for it. Yea, that's the ticket.

I once had to stay in a Red Roof Inn. In a country like America, how can anyone be forced to stay in anything less than a 3-star hotel? We need guaranteed free access to 3-star hotels for all and a hotel surtax for any 4-star or greater property to pay for it. Nobody deserves a bad night at a cheap hotel.

Airlines, where do I start? If I want to travel to a Dear Leader praise rally, why should I have to pay for an airline ticket? Air travel is a right! Its in the Constitution, I swear!

Cars? Don't get me started. Its unfair that my neighbor drives a Mercedes while a putter around in my Obama-made lawnmower. I have a right to a brand new car every year and nobody should have a newer or better model/make than me. Are you going to restrict my ability to travel? Oh, by the way, I'm not paying for it, or for any maintenance or repairs. That's the government's job. Obama even promised to put gas in my tank!

When I die, don't even think about charging me or my family for a funeral. I have a right to a decent casket, funeral service and honor guard. After a lifetime of leaching off the few remaining American taxpayers and not contributing one single penny to the economy, a 21-gun salute to honor my departure seems appropriate.

The fate of freedom rests in the hands of less than 20 members of Congress. Will they vote for liberty or tyranny?

Never in my wildest dreams did I think freedom could be lost by a vote in Congress. How can there not be at least 218 people in the House of Representatives that will honor their oath and defend the Constitution?

This is the most important week in the future of the United States as the fate of Obamacare is debated. God help us all.

Thomas Jefferson once said:

"When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny."

Unfortunately, we are falling deeper into the tyranny stage.

Its frightening that there are so many people in Washington willing to completely ignore the Constitution in the process of pushing this nightmare legislation. Progressives will stop at nothing, even their career in politics, to force the nationalization of the health care industry. Government has already thrown a monkey wrench in the system through Medicare and Medicaid, which causes us all to pay more for everything health related. Now they want it all. If you control the $$$ in health care, you can control every decision a citizen makes in the name of "controlling costs."

But the only way it cuts cost is by restricting access and denying care. This is about control, creating more Government/Democrat/union jobs and making more people even more dependent on government, guaranteeing Democrats power for the next several decades.

We don't have to look far to see the failure of government run systems since virtually every country suffers under some form of socialized medicine. There is a reason the well-to-do in those parts travel to the states for timely, and safe surgeries. But we don't even have to go that far for evidence, we can simply look at Massachusetts for a preview of what is to come. They passed the affectionately called Romneycare, named after the former "Republican" governor Mitt Romney.
They had hoped to lower costs, insure everyone, while maintaining high standards of care. The results as found in the Wall Street Journal:

- 140,000 remained uninsured in 2008.
- A family of 4 spends on average more than $13,000 in insurance premiums, 27% higher than the national average.
- Insurance companies are required to sell "just-in-time" policies, meaning you can wait until you need surgery and buy a policy. Needless to say, many people are taking advantage of the system and driving up premiums in the process.
- As one would expect in a socialized system, physicians are quitting the business, moving or restricting access. 56% of internal medicine doctors are not taking new patients. 44 days is the average wait for an appointment.
- Emergency room visits have jumped by 7%. If you can't see a doctor, where do you go? You guessed it, the emergency room, and this only increases the cost for everyone else.

Obamacare proponents claim that it will only increase the deficit by $900 Billion over 10 years. I call shenanigans. First off, whatever program comes out of Washington, multiply it by a factor of at least 10 and you might be close. This will be a budget buster of epic proportions. Taxes start immediately, while benefits don't kick in until 2014. But I thought Obama claimed that thousands were dying every day because of lack of health insurance? Why wait for 4 years to implement? What part does election year politics play in delaying Obamacare implementation until after Obama's run in 2012? Inquiring minds want to know.

And in the irony of ironies, it will still leave several million uninsured. Wasn't that the reason for the stampede to nationalization in the first place!? You could take a fraction of the above amount and buy private health insurance for all the so-called uninsured in America. Why was that not even considered?

What are the alternatives? I'm glad you asked.

Indiana offers Health Savings Accounts (which would be illegal under Obamacare) to state employees. 70% Have chosen this option, bringing health related costs down by 11%. Click on the link to see what a free market solution might look like.

Tort Reform in Texas and other states reduce the use of defensive medicine, spur economic growth and reduce cost. There are no provisions in Obamacare for Tort reform.

These are just two of many proposals that should be tested in all 50 states to determine the best direction to go. Testing various proposals in 50 states seems far more sensible than a government takeover of the best health care system in the world.

The Message of Massachusetts...

Along with most Americans I was happy to see Scott Brown win in Massachusetts, but not that surprised. Even though this election was to replace Ted Kennedy, one of the most liberal Senators in my lifetime, and in one of the most liberal states in the union, this election was about course correction.

The Democrat party is not the party that my parents supported. The leadership is full of people who truly believe that government can do everything. And the bigger the government, the better they can do it. Individual Democrats worship Chairman Mao and other radical leftists from history. They crave power to implement all their socialist dreams on an unsuspecting population. And for years, Democrats could rely on union members, Democrats and others to support them no matter what.

Well, last night something changed all that. A Conservative candidate won in a very blue state. He may not be the perfect Conservative for everyone, but he is a far cry from Ted Kennedy when it comes to important issues like fiscal restraint or a government takeover of health care. Small steps, right?

With Obama's win in 2008, and the Democrat takeover of Congress two years earlier, the country has been on a downward spiral, made worse by reckless Obama policies. Unemployment at 10% (much higher (17%) if you count those that have given up), foolish spending and treating terrorists as common criminals are just a few of the problems created by the current leadership.

Voters have had enough. Its not really a Republican versus Democrat thing. It is a Progressive versus Conservative thing. America is a Conservative country and Americans recoil at the thought that government will run their health care or anything else. Hopefully a moderate Democrat party will emerge from this defeat, but somehow I doubt it. November should be a major course correction back to the center of the political spectrum where most Americans call home.

All Politics Is Physical...

This is a funny, but typical story of politics in the age of Obama.

Martha Coakley (Democrat) is running in the special election in Massachusetts (or is it Massachusettes) for the Senate seat vacated by the recent death of Ted Kennedy. For some reason a week before the election she is in Washington meeting with health care lobbyists and raising gobs of cash from unions and pharmaceutical companies for who knows what favors down the road.

Outside the happy gathering, The Weekly Standard's John McCormack is assaulted by one of her goons when he has the audacity to ask Queen Coakley a question about some of her recent debate answers. I know that is some pretty serious stuff. Anyway, here is the account from the reporter along with video: We Report, We Get Pushed.

The liberal Boston Globe, first posted this laughable report of the crime: Reporter takes stumble chasing Mass. candidate. Somehow their version of the events has the reporter falling down only to be helped up by the kind stranger.

Within a day, a new story in the liberal Boston Globe appeared: Weekly Standard reporter says he was pushed by Coakley aide. Never mind the video and the eyewitness accounts, must protect the liberal goon and candidate. The comments at the bottom of both Globe articles are priceless!

The race is very close with Coakley and the Republican candidate, Scott Brown, virtually tied. Which is amazing in of itself, because Massachusetts is probably the most liberal state in the country. This is a state that already "enjoys" government health care and elects such notable liberals as John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank to Congress.

The Spirit Of Esther...

I just finished some research on Esther from the Bible for an online project. For those not familiar with the story, Esther is a young Jewish girl who becomes queen of Persia and later is instrumental in saving her people from destruction.

The secular world, and in some churches too, want to make the story nothing more than a beauty pageant for Esther. But there was so much more going on behind the scenes. At every turn God's favor lifts her above the other potential candidates. When she dares to go before the king unannounced, God's favor spared her life so she could intercede for herself and her people.

As favor had protected and promoted Joseph before her in Egypt, Esther was prepared in advance for the exact moment God had planned to use her. After fasting and praying for three days along with all Jews in the city, Esther was able to save her people and see their enemies destroyed.

I know I'm not alone in my comparison of Esther to Sarah Palin. I too think she was born for this moment. At a time when corruption reigns supreme in Washington and freedom is on life support, God has raised us a champion. A person who believes in all the good America stands for and who is willing to fight against the tyranny of the left. A mother that served time in local politics and later as Alaska's Governor. A woman who really believes in small government, accountability and in harvesting the abundance that God has blessed us with here in America.

Whatever the future holds for the Governor, I'm glad she is out there fighting for America.

What Health Care Crisis?

Senator Harry Reid (Demonrat -Nevada) is cramming through Obamacare in time for Christmas! Secret backroom deals, midnight votes, millions in taxpayer funds to buy votes from Senators in Louisiana and Nebraska will be the legacy of this nightmare. But yet it still does not solve the supposed purpose of reform - insuring the uninsured.

Instead it destroys the doctor/patient relationship by inserting an unnecessary government bureaucracy. It mandates that people buy insurance or go to jail. And within a few years, it will run private insurers out of business, while not addressing the serious issue of tort reform. How in the heck does this make health care better?

I rarely get sick. But last week I woke up wheezing and gasping for air. What I thought might have been a simple sinus infection was a case of pneumonia. I know that because the morning it hit the hardest, I called my doctor. By 10am, I was at his office. By 11am, I had all my vitals tested, chest x-rays, blood test, a nebulizer treatment along with a shot of antibiotics and steroids. I carry insurance that I buy through work and my co-pay was $50 which I paid with my flexible spending account (FSA).

At 12, I was at the pharmacy, where I was loaded up with a grocery sack of drugs: antibiotic, decongestant/expectorant, ample supply of breathing treatments, all of which were covered by insurance to some degree with the exception of the portable nebulizer (breathing machine). The total out-of-pocket for me $160, which again I paid for with my FSA.

There is no other country on the planet where I could have been seen, tested, diagnosed and treated that quickly with the latest and most effective drugs available. And were it not for government involvement, threat of lawsuits and other bureaucratic challenges, the price of the service might have been far less.

Pneumonia, which can be fatal if not treated quickly, was just a few days rest for me. But for those waiting a month to see a doctor or for an x-ray in a government-run system, it could easily mean death.

Exactly where is the crisis? Why destroy the very best health care on the planet? Yes, I know the answer and so do you. This is about Democrat control of every aspect of our lives. Instead of raising everyone up and giving them the very best they can get, they want to equalize the misery.

My Favorite Movies For The Christmas Season...

If you are looking for some films to watch this Christmas season, here are a few that I have always liked.

First, the Obvious Classics:
It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - The original film starring Jimmy Stewart and the beautiful Donna Reed really captures the spirit of Christmas. The message of how one person can change the world is timeless. If the ending doesn't tear you up, you aren't human.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947) - A very young Natalie Wood steals the show as a precocious girl who does not believe in Santa. Lots of feel good moments in this film.

For a Chuckle:
Elf (2003) - Will Ferrell's most entertaining performance as a would-be elf. Bob Newhart and James Caan add to the fun.

Scrooged (1988) - Bill Murray meets Charles Dickens. Predictable story, but entertaining cast makes it work. Bobcat Goldthwait plays the part of Bill Murray's terrorized employee.

Christmas Vacation (1989) - Chevy Chase is back as leader of the Griswold clan and experiences the worst Christmas one can imagine.

For the Romantic
Just Friends (2005) - Ryan Reynolds returns home to reconnect with his high school sweetheart (Amy Smart) at Christmas. Anna Faris gives a great performance as a spoiled and slightly psychotic rock star.

Love, Actually (2003) - Is there an English actor not in this film? Not exactly a Christmas movie, but all the action occurs during the Christmas season. The movie follows the romantic paths of several couples. Colin Firth and Lucia Moniz steal the show IMHO. Film includes Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Laura Linney, January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Alan Rickman, Billy Bob Thornton and on and on and on.

The Family Man (2000) - Nicholas Cage gives a great performance as someone given a chance to see what his life might have been. Yes, it does sound similar to Its A Wonderful Life, but this is not a remake.

Serendipity (2001) - Starrying the lovely Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack, the story starts at Christmas when the two meet shopping at Bloomingdales. They leave their future in the hands of fate only to be reunited 5 years later. Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon co-star.

The Random Choices
Die Hard (1988) - The original Bruce Willis film still ranks as one of the most intense films I have ever seen in a theater. It takes place at Christmas, but not really a Christmas movie.

The Nativity Story (2006) - The film follows the journey of Mary & Joseph to Bethlehem and only slightly deviates from scripture.

Silent Night (2002) - A WW2 story about American and German soldiers setting aside their differences for one night.

There are hundreds more I could add: White Christmas, The Christmas Story, A Midnight Clear, Joyeux Noel, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Carol to name a few. But the above are my favorites.

I have blogged often on the global warming hoax. You see I recognized it for what it was immediately. These same leftists tried the same stunt in the 70s, claiming that we were all going to die in a new ice age unless we pay more taxes. It was absurd then, and it is just as absurd now. And the fact that my elementary school took a week to scare the crap out of me and my peers, left a bitter taste in my mouth for decades.

I am not a scientist, but I am a rational person who believes in a loving Creator. God created this planet and all the remarkable interrelated forces that govern things like weather. It would be virtually impossible, even if man put all his efforts into it, to destroy this planet. He is a very small organism living on a massively large globe. Take a plane ride across America or over the pond, and you will better understand how big this planet really is.

But even if you reject a divine presence, if you take a step back, you will quickly realize how insignificant the role of man has, compared to global and cosmic sources on the planet. The fact that these so-called "global warming" scientists refuse to even consider the sun, earth's core (Al Gore claimed it is a million degrees down there), gravity, cosmic radiation and a hundred other factors in climate change, shows their unwillingness to uncover the truth.

For almost two decades we have had the "global warming" hysteria jammed down our throats. Big Al Gore has forced schools to watch his laughable propaganda film and produced numerous books promoting this hoax. His motivation is quite simply to profit off of the hoax both directly and indirectly, investing in "green" trading and companies.

For the scientists and politicians that have continued this nonsense, its both financial and political. This was an easy way to force otherwise free countries into a more socialized world order. Bring on climate guilt and regulate and tax them into submission. The plan was working pretty well until certain people started asking tough questions.

But now the jig is finally up. Someone gained access to hundreds of emails and documents that detail the fraud and manipulation of science. But I'll let Christopher Monckton, one of the heroes of the so-called denier movement take it from here:

The tiny, close-knit clique of climate scientists who invented and now drive the “global warming” fraud — for fraud is what we now know it to be — tampered with temperature data so assiduously that, on the recent admission of one of them, land temperatures since 1980 have risen twice as fast as ocean temperatures. One of the thousands of emails recently circulated by a whistleblower at the University of East Anglia, where one of the world’s four global-temperature datasets is compiled, reveals that data were altered so as to prevent a recent decline in temperature from showing in the record. In fact, there has been no statistically significant “global warming” for 15 years — and there has been rapid and significant cooling for nine years.

Worse, these arrogant fraudsters — for fraudsters are what we now know them to be — have refused, for years and years and years, to reveal their data and their computer program listings. Now we know why: As a revealing 15,000-line document from the computer division at the Climate Research Unit shows, the programs and data are a hopeless, tangled mess. In effect, the global temperature trends have simply been made up. Unfortunately, the British researchers have been acting closely in league with their U.S. counterparts who compile the other terrestrial temperature dataset — the GISS/NCDC dataset. That dataset too contains numerous biases intended artificially to inflate the natural warming of the 20th century.

I have never, and will never deny that the climate of the earth does change. I will absolutely fight the concept that CO2 is a pollutant, or in any way causes global warming. Just the opposite, CO2 increases in the atmosphere FOLLOW periods of higher temperatures since the majority of CO2 is in the oceans and released as they evaporate. CO2 is never the driver.

We have gone through ice ages and significant warm periods as well. We seem to be in a cooling phase at present. In the not too distant past, they grew grapes in England and the Norse settled a place called GREENLAND that ain't so green anymore. During those times there were no SUVs and no industrial output of any significance. The changes in global climate are completely natural and cyclical. And in some cases, can be quite beneficial to mankind.

Nevertheless, and even with mounting evidence of a substantial fraud and bad science, world leaders are gathering next month in Copenhagen to yet again force some global warming hoax-inspired wealth distribution on the Western world. This is also what is behind the very bad legislation called Cap & Trade (Cap & Tax). Both will substantially cripple our economy, as we have already seen in Europe among nations that have embraced this nonsense. And the funny part, cutting CO2 emissions will do nothing to change the climate.

Now that we have put to bed this non issue, maybe we can focus on some more important things like winning the war against terrorism and reducing taxes so our economy will get out of the crapper.

After 16 MONTHS of debate, the Continental Congress approved the Articles of Confederation for ratification by the states. This would lay the groundwork for the Constitution. Among the guarantees in the Articles:

"Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated."

Now, think about Nancy Pelosi and this present Congress ramming through 2,000 pages of jibberish that not one single Congress critter has read in its final form - in the middle of the night and on a weekend.

Our Founding Fathers understood that it took time and debate before decisons could be made and laws passed. They rightly feared an all-powerful centralized government and took this responsibility seriously.

We should all be aware that if/when Obamacare passes, the Federal government will have the power to regulate EVERY aspect of your life. Why? Because EVERYTHING you eat, drink, breathe and do may have an impact on your health care needs today, or tomorrow. The government will regulate your life to control and minimize how much this monstrosity will cost. Do you really want some czar or bureaucrat telling you how to live your life?

This is not poltics. It is YOUR FREEDOM that is at stake.

There is a reason I have this Thomas Jefferson quote at the top of my blog. It is still 100% true 200 years later.

Wow. That's ten "AP writers" plus Calvin Woodward, the AP writer whose twinkling pen honed the above contributions into the turgid sludge of the actual report. That's 11 writers for a 695-word report. What on? Obamacare? The Iranian nuke program? The upcoming trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?

No, the Associated Press assigned 11 writers to "fact-check" Sarah Palin's new book, and in return the 11 fact-checkers triumphantly unearthed six errors. That's 1.8333333 writers for each error.

The economy is in the toilet. Over 17% unemployment. Obama is bowing to world leaders. Iran is shooting us the finger. Congress is trying to destroy our wonderful health care system. And the AP thinks its more important to sick 11 writers on a private citizen's literary endeavor?

I am speechless. Its almost comical how crazy and unhinged the left is when it comes to Sarah. Heck, I may just order a few more copies simply to give as gifts. The sales numbers for her book are already off the charts and it has not even shipped.

Reports to be released Friday on the government Web site Recovery.gov are expected to show that the $150 billion in grants and loans made so far under the economic stimulus package have created or saved about 650,000 jobs, White House officials said Friday morning.

Harrison - I still can't figure out how to measure a "saved" job. I wonder how many jobs could be created by your average entrepreneur/business owner with $230,000?

Only a Democrat could waste $230,000 in taxpayer money to create ONE freakin' job and think that is a good thing.

Unemployment Hits Record High - 10.2% In October!
Remember that Obama claimed the stimulus bill would save or create millions of jobs. It didn’t. Remember that the Obama Administration said that the stimulus bill would keep unemployment from rising above 8% and that the bill was too important to take the time to read it? Remember that after a slight dip in unemployment in August Obama claimed that he had “rescued our economy from catastrophe?”

10.2% is hardly accurate. The actual number is closer to 17.5%. This is the U-6 category which includes: people who have given up, taken part time jobs, gone back to school etc. Under a Democrat controlled Congress and President Bush, that number was 11.1% last October. It is now 17.5% after a year at the mercy of a Federal government completely dominated by Democrats. Here is the Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Read it quickly before the White House wipes away the evidence.

Democrats have spent taxpayer money we don't have like drunken sailors (no offense intended to my Navy friends). They have nationalized school loans and taken over car companies. They are now openly debating a takeover of health care. All these actions will just delay the natural recovery. If we ever want to get out of this economic funk, we must stop spending, shrink the government and lower taxes. Get DC out of the way of private business and watch the economy roar back to life.

How To Lose A War And Inspire Your Enemies...

The Obama administration has been dithering around with its plans for Afghanistan for almost an entire year. His hand-picked general has requested 40,000 more troops, but Obama is unsure. I can only imagine the outrage from Americans and the military if Roosevelt had strung Eisenhower along this way during WW2.

Our community organizer in chief, with all of 150 days in the Senate now thinks he knows more than the leadership of our professional military on how to win a war! But then again maybe he does not want to win...

Back on July 23rd on Nightline, he had this to say about Afghanistan:

"I'm always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur," Obama told ABC News.

What are we now, France? What is the end game? Defeat? Surrender?

Most conflicts that end decisively, result in a lasting peace. See Germany, Japan, Mexican American, Spanish American wars etc etc. Its only the ones where we have negotiated/surrendered or did not finish what we started that have continued to fester - see North Korea and Afghanistan.

Now we find out that Obama is negotiating with the Taliban for shared leadership in Afghanistan. WTH? The Taliban (or as Obama likes to calls them, Tollybon) was/is one of the most brutally oppressive regimes in the modern era. They gave sanctuary to Al Queda and facilitated the training of 9-11 terrorists. The ongoing insurgency in Afghanistan is being orchestrated by many former Taliban leaders.

Here is what we offered:

"US negotiators had offered the Taliban leadership through Mullah Wakil Ahmed Mutawakkil (former Taliban foreign minister) that if they accept the presence of NATO troops in Afghanistan, they would be given the governorship of six provinces in the south and northeast," a senior Afghan Foreign Ministry official told IslamOnline.net requesting anonymity for not being authorized to talk about the sensitive issue with the media.

If you have paid any attention to the Middle east in the past 50 years, you know that any concession by the West towards radical islam is perceived as weakness. The Taliban has seen that the US and its allies are not serious about winning the war. They will now ramp up the insurgency costing even more lives because of his amateurish stunt. Example number 5000 of why liberals should never hold power, especially at this level.

If the Taliban ever agreed to such a plan, they would simply use the provinces as launching pads (possibly literally like Hezbollah and Hamas have done with rockets and mortars into Israel) to further destabilize Afghanistan.

America has spent far too much in blood and taxpayer money to walk away now. Its time for this administration to grow a pair, take the gloves off and defeat the forces of darkness that would plunge the now free Afghans back under the iron fist of the Taliban. Let the military fight the battle and don't play politics with American lives.

Obama may not like the term victory, but if he were a real American he would understand that is who we are. We finish what we start. We leave the place better than before we came. And most importantly, we WIN!

Obamacare On Life Support...

The government takeover of health care seems to keep rearing its ugly head. I thought after Sarah Palin's brilliant FaceBook message referring to the "end of life" counseling and inevitable rationing of elderly care as "death panels" was a fatal blow. But even with support all the way down to 42%, and I even think that is overstated, Democrats keep pushing this crap forward.

If you find yourself on the fence, here is one more nugget to consider. One of the big reasons Obama and his henchmen are pushing this is that they see it as a foot in the door to socialized medicine (complete government control of all health decisions and expenditures). There is ample evidence, and in their own words, affirming this truth. They will force everyone to take government insurance (think medicare or medicaid). This will eventually destroy the private insurance industry as they cannot compete against a government (taxpayer) subsidized entity. The end result is everyone will pay EVEN MORE for Obama's crappy government plan.

Why do I call it crappy? Ask a poor person, a health care provider or an elderly person and they will let you know.

Now, one of the ways Obama has sold this garbage is that it would save $$$ and stop the "profiteering" of "big insurance companies." Excuse me?

The top 10 health insurers COMBINED earned profits of just over $8 Billion. Let that number sink in for a tic.

Medicare FRAUD in the USA cost you and me $60 BILLION last year. And that's for about 45 million Medicare victims. Probably half of those $$$ went to ACORN and/or funded Obama's election, but I digress.

How in the wide, wide, world of sports will that number not increase a hundredfold when you force another 200 million people to suffer with some bureaucratic government boondoggle of an insurance plan?

Our very own Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, the one with the permanent deer in the headlights expression, unveiled (privately) the brand new health care takeover bill. Unfortunately, its not any prettier than she is.

There are at least 13 new taxes in the bill. Among the more egregious that you might consider:

Individual Mandate Surtax: If you do not have health insurance or refuse to buy health insurance, your friends in Washington will tax you 2.5% of your modified adjusted gross income!

Medicine Cabinet Tax: Would end your ability to purchase non-prescription medications with your health savings accounts (HSAs) or flexible spending accounts (FSAs), or health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs). The bill would also cap FSAs at $2500.

This would be the beginning of the end for HSAs and FSAs. These are actually the solution to affordable health care, but according to Nancy and her merry band of nitwits, they must be destroyed.

Surtax on Individuals and Small Businesses: Nancy includes a surtax of 5.4 percent on adjusted gross incomes over $500,000 ($1 million married filing jointly). If you thought the Democrat engineered banking crash was bad, wait until you see what this does to small businesses and unemployment after it gets rolling.

The "nonpartisan" CBO claims this will ONLY cost $200 BILLION more annually - we all know from previous experiences with goobermint programs you will need to multiply that number by at least 10 for a more accurate estimate.

But the irony of ironies, this will still leave an estimated 18 million people uninsured. 18 freakin' million? We're wasting $200 BILLION and still can't buy basic coverage for 18 million people!? As you see, this bill has nothing to do with making sure people are insured. Heck, give me that $200 billion and I will personally insure every uninsured citizen out there with plenty leftover to throw a mega party or two!

What makes all of this futile is that reimbursements to doctors and hospitals will be drastically reduced. Doctors will retire early, for-profit hospitals will shut their doors, and as health options decrease and begin to be rationed - as they always have in socialized countries, the cost will skyrocket. Not to mention the end of any private insurance options as the Federal government runs them out of business.

Worst Legislation EVER -- although cap and tax may still be worse.

A Spooky Halloween Tale...

It is of course almost Halloween so I thought it appropriate to tell you the story of Stan.

You see Stan went out on Halloween night dressed as his favorite superhero and hit every house in the neighborhood. He even went to the school and church carnivals and visited the senior assisted living center down the street.

When he got home he counted up his haul and was amazed how much he had.

"Mom! I have 50 candy bars!" he exclaimed.

"Stan what are you going to do with all that candy?" asked his Mom.

"I'm taking it to school to share with my friends," said Stan.

His mother was so proud that her son thought of his friends first.

On Monday, all the kids were sharing stories of Halloween with their teacher. Nobody had the kind of success that Stan had and some were even envious.

The teacher sensing the disparity, decided that it wasn't fair that Stan had more than the rest.

"Stan, I'm going to take your candy and share it with the rest of the class," said the teacher.

And before Stan could say anything, the teacher had taken his pumpkin full of candy bars.

She came to Anne first. Anne had stayed home because her family doesn't believe in Halloween. Anne was given 10 candy bars.

Joe went to a couple of relatives' houses and had two candy bars. He got 8.

Bobby played video games and didn't even bother to go trick or treating. She gave him 10 candy bars.

The Dickinson twins had each worked their neighborhood and had 9 candy bars each. The teacher gave them 1 each.

Sally and Ray were both sick so they didn't have any. They were given 10 candy bars.

And then the teacher came back to Stan and gave him 10 candy bars.

"Where's all my candy?" demanded Stan.

"Don't be selfish Stan. It wasn't fair that you had so much and everyone else had so little," explained the teacher. "And I'm keeping your pumpkin for next year."

"But I worked all night for that!" explained Stan.

It didn't matter. Whatever the teacher decided was the law.

Stan couldn't believe what had just happened. He was going to share with the class, but now he had just a few left from all his hard work. He stood there with his mouth wide open glaring at his teacher.

"You Bitch!"

THE END

The Moral of the story? What's the point of working hard if everything you earn is taken from you to give to those unwilling to earn it on their own.

The same lesson was learned at Plymouth Colony when everyone worked for the common good. They almost starved that first winter because nobody had any incentive to work hard. And then William Bradford assigned each person a plot of land to work for their own benefit. Amazingly they had an abundant harvest and celebrated their good fortune by sharing it with the Indians ( I apologize...Native Americans) on that first Thanksgiving.

America's first attempt at socialism almost destroyed those early pilgrims. Thank God they instead turned to capitalism and not only survived, but prospered too. The rest as they say is history...Of course THAT story is never taught in the public indoctrination centers (er, um, I mean public schools).

Now centuries later, we have an administration and party determined to send us back down the path to socialism. These are supposedly smart people who continue to regurgitate the same stupid, failed solutions involving more government control and redistribution of wealth. THAT is the really scary part of this story.

Solar Power - 170 Years And Counting...

Solar technology has been around for almost 200 years. Since the Carter years, we have dumped BILLIONS of taxpayer $$$ into subsidizing this technology. Even with all this government waste, it has proven woefully inadequate when compared to much more viable and proven energy sources such as nuclear, coal, hydroelectric and others.

Now under the Nobel Prize winning dear leader's administration, it seems solar will be winning the lottery once again. California Congressman Tom McClintock gave a great speech on this topic today. Below is an excerpt and link.

In a day, a solid acre of state-of-the-art solar panels can produce 2.2 megawatt hours of electricity, assuming an average of 5 hours of peak sunlight. 2.2 megawatt hours per day. Compare that to the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant that produces 49,000 megawatt hours of electricity each day.

In order to duplicate that single nuclear power plant, it would require 22,000 acres of solid solar panels – or 34 square miles. By comparison, the Diablo Canyon Power Plant sits on one square mile.

So this technology, after 170 years and countless billions of dollars of research and development, is roughly 17 times more expensive than nuclear power and consumes 32 times the land area of a comparable nuclear facility.

Solar will never be the solution in our lifetime. But I'm sure Democrats already know that. They, like Santa Clause, just love handing out taxpayer-funded Christmas presents to their buddies in the solar technology field and in universities.

Who Do You Admire Most?

When I think of great leaders and philosophers, or even people I would invite to my fantasy dinner, names like Jesus, Plato, Thomas Jefferson and Ghandi come to mind. I would think most Americans would have similar lists.

Jesus would be an obvious choice. His wisdom is eternal and I could never stop learning from him.

Thomas Jefferson understood better than most the concept of freedom that he and the other Founding Fathers created. I would love to hear what he thinks of American government now.

But then you have Obama's communications director, Anita Dunn. Who is inspired by Mao Tse Tung? The man who was responsible for as many as 70 million deaths in China as he forced Communism on the Chinese?

Where does Obama find all these radical nitwits? And what is someone who admires and dare I say worships Chairman Mao or Che in Cuba or Chavez in Venezuela doing working at the highest levels of our Federal Government? And why do "progressives" always idolize dictators, murderers and Marxists?

The SMU Mustangs are 3-2 and 2-0 in conference play for the first time in a gazillion years. And if they had not had a complete meltdown in the final quarter against Washington State, they would be 4-1. There is a gentleman's agreement to place SMU in the Aloha Bowl (or whatever its called) for a June Jones homecoming if SMU is bowl eligible and not CUSA champion. Do I dare book my flight?

I mean really, if that is all it takes to establish my name, earn some coin, bribe some union/ACORN types, vote "present" a view times in a state legislature, spend approximately 143 days in the Senate campaigning full time for POTUS and then win the Nobel Prize. Heck, I'm in.

My accomplishments? Well, let's see... I assisted virtually every movie studio in promoting their films in DFW. I created NHL hockey cards bringing joy to collectors everywhere. This was followed by a widely acclaimed and award winning Desert Storm trading card set - but that's not PC.

Collectors of Coca Cola, NFL and Playboy products got to purchase my handiwork. And I created IVR-based promotions and campaigns for JC Penney, Gruner & Jahr, Nokia, SBC and NRA among others. Although I probably need to avoid mentioning those pesky defenders of the 2nd Amendment.

In my free time I write Christian children's stories, read and enjoyed online by millions around the world. I have also utilized my formerly impressive athletic skills to win multiple church basketball and flag football league titles. I even managed to coach some awful 8th graders to their championship in Church basketball. But I probably should avoid mentioning Jesus, church, Christian or I will labeled a fanatic by the liberals.

I even have my long form birth certificate somewhere and I can take you to the exact hospital where I was born. My mom even kept my certificates of membership to GI Joe's Adventure Team and the Estes Model rocket club. And I bet I could find some stuff for my time in Cub Scouts too. But most of that might be too militaristic for the state run media.

I bet I could even find articles I wrote in college for the newspaper and my college transcripts. Well, the latter are impressive every other semester. The grades seemed to dip during football season - not sure what that means.

Yep, that sounds pretty impressive. I think I'm ready to make my move. And just like dear leader I will find someone to secretly write it for me. Although my life will not need nearly as much embellishment as dear leader.

Instead of a terrorist and raving mad socialist, I will select Mark Steyn if he's game. I mean he may be a little to the right for the lunatic left's taste, but he definitely has a gift when it comes to words.

I checked the news today and saw that our dear leader has been awarded the Nobel Peace Price. Are you freakin' kidding me? What makes this laughable is that he was nominated on February 1st for this - barely a week into his failed Presidency.

Even the Nobel committee hints at the completely ridiculous selection - from the citation:

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts.

Ah yes, demanding a would-be Marxist tyrant be restored to power in Honduras, allowing Iran and North Korea to continue their development of nuclear weapons, abandoning our longtime ally Israel and the global groveling/apology tour is really paying dividends among socialists worldwide.

The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations.

Hello? There are about to be two new rogue nuclear powers in the world and our dear leader has given them the green light. At least one, Iran, has continued to insist that they will use it on Israel and anyone else that President Imamadnutjob dislikes. The vision of a nuclear free world is the vision of somebody completely naive to the dangers present in the world today.

Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Never mind that we are on a decade long cooling trend and the UN IPCC climate reports have been widely discredited. Global warming is now referred to as climate change - which sounds cooler. Whatever it takes to spread socialism globally I guess.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.

Hope and change wins out yet again over anything tangible. Our dear leader has 9 months as POTUS, 143 days on the job in the Senate, a host of "present" votes in his short time in Illinois politics, and was elected in an ACORN/Chicago politics inspired fraud of epic proportions. What has he really accomplished that would earn him this recognition? But let's be frank, what qualified him most in the eyes of our esteemed Nobel voters was that he is not George Bush - and that is sad.

This same bunch of idiots gave the "Peace" Prize to known terrorist/murderer Yasser Arafat, one of the worst Presidents in the modern era, Jimmy Carter and global warming scam artist Al Gore. That tells you all you need to know.

Remember with liberals, results do not matter, only intentions.

Unfortunately, our cleric did not address this issue just yet. But others have suggested perpetual virginity for all 72. Maybe a cleric can clarify this further in the future.

Seems like pretty good motivation to leave this world for the next. No wonder so many ignorant men have wasted their lives as terrorists. Unfortunately, they will be bitterly disapointed in their afterlife "reward." And that is just sad.

Speaking of films, I just watched Der Untergang (2004) this weekend. Its a German film about the last days of Hitler. One of the better films I have seen on the topic for those that do not mind subtitles.

As the end approaches, even the most loyal supporters start to see the madness of Hitler and National Socialism. And while a few "patriots" follow Hitler to the grave - some quite literally, most Germans realize Hitler was a power hungry psychotic. Unfortunately, for the 50 million who lost their lives, that was discovered far too late.

The lesson we learn is to not follow a cult of personality. They will simply use you and quickly discard you when they are done. Develop principles and values and stick to them. Support candidates that support those values. Avoid supporting people because of their charisma or charm. Charm is just a con game. BTW - one of the meanings of charm is bewitch. Something to think about each election season.

Casey, Jr., Special Agent in Charge for the Dallas Office of the FBI, announced today that Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, 19, has been arrested and charged in a federal criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Smadi, who was under continuous surveillance by the FBI, was arrested today near Fountain Place, a 60-story glass office tower located at 1445 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas, after he placed an inert/inactive car bomb at the location. Smadi, a Jordanian citizen in the U.S. illegally, lived and worked in Italy, Texas, (approximately 45 miles south of Dallas).

He has repeatedly espoused his desire to commit violent Jihad and has been the focus of an undercover FBI investigation.

Pulling out his tin foil he added,

"Perhaps this swine virus may be one of those viruses that was created in the laboratory and it went out of control because it was meant in the beginning to be used as a military weapon."

Not to be outdone, Obama put it all on the line with some deep thoughts for the world.

"Responsibility and leadership in the 21st century demand more. In an era when our destiny is shared, power is no longer a zero-sum game. No one nation can or should try to dominate other nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed."

Yep, America is leader of the free world no more. We're just like every other worthless little dictatorship. He even threw Israel under the bus with this radical departure in American policy towards Israel (emphasis mine).

"We continue to call on Palestinians to end incitement against Israel. And we continue to emphasize that America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements."

And of course you just knew he had to plug the global warming hoax.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, along with other leftist leaders in South America, demanded that Honduran law and the will of its people be ignored.

If you've read any of my writing on the global warming hoax, you know deep at the core of the movement are people determined to bring about the end of capitalism. They are green on the outside, but socialist red on the inside. You can see that by the "solutions" offered to combat global warming. They usually involve much higher taxes, more regulation, global wealth redistribution and a much larger government bureaucracy to "manage" the lives of us simpletons not on the government payroll.

During this week of exciting global warming meetings at the UN, I present for your amusement the President of Bolivia Evo Morales, heretofore referred to as BEVO, for the amount of bovine excrement coming from his keyboard on the global warming hoax. BEVO is the leader of the socialist party in Bolivia referred to as MAS, the Spanish word for "more" - keep that in mind as we proceed.

He wrote this lovely piece of Barbra Streisand in 2008:

Competition and the thirst for profit without limits of the capitalist system are destroying the planet. Under Capitalism we are not human beings but consumers. Under Capitalism Mother Earth does not exist, instead there are raw materials. Capitalism is the source of the asymmetries and imbalances in the world. It generates luxury, ostentation and waste for a few, while millions in the world die from hunger in the world. (My emphasis)

--- BEVO - Capitalism and the free market system has done more for humans in the last 200 years than ANY economic or political structure in the history of mankind. More wealth has been created and distributed than has existed in the entire history of the world! And the standard of living has advanced at a phenomenal rate in countries that have embraced free markets. Every major technological, scientific or medical advancement/achievement of note has originated in countries that are at least somewhat capitalistic in nature.

It is the free countries that have done the most to reduce pollution and clean the environment. America has one of the highest standards of living and leads the world in producing even more efficient cars and industry. Why? Because waste is not profitable. The profit motive is what produces innovation. It is the desire to build wealth that creates opportunity and raises the standard of living for all!

Heck, even the "poor" in America live like kings compared to the average citizen living in socialist countries. And if the "poor" are so inclined, they can get up off their butt here in the "evil" US and within a few short years, be a business tycoon creating jobs for another generation. It just takes a dream and some hard work. In a capitalist system, there is opportunity, not so much in the socialist countries.

It is only in the tin-pot dictatorships and 3rd world "managed" economies of countries like say, Bolivia, where people continue to live in squalor. And apparently with BEVO in charge, that is unlikely to change. Even if billions were stolen from "wealthy" nations to combat "global warming" and given to socialist nations, they would simply continue to stash it in their personal foreign bank accounts and pay off their cronies.

I find this Wikipedia entry fascinating as it reflects what's wrong with the left's mindset:

It is NOT the role of government to provide jobs. Government cannot create wealth. Government will fail every time if/when people depend on it for their livelihood. Bolivia is blessed with an abundance of natural resources, but somehow can't figure out how to prosper. If it weren't so sad, it would be funny.

One final BEVO thought:

We need a World Environment and Climate Change Organisation to which multilateral trade and financial organisations are subordinated, so as to promote a different model of development that environmentally friendly and resolves the profound problems of impoverishment. This organisation must have effective follow-up, verification and sanctioning mechanisms to ensure that the present and future agreements are complied with.

Umm...not no, but HELL no. I will never subordinate United States sovereignty to a bunch of blue-beret wearing socialists at the UN. The US has already plunged too far down the rat hole of socialism, its time to turn the ship around.

BTW - I'm sure Big Al Gore has been lobbying to be El Jefe of the newly created World Environment and Climate Change Organisation. That would be swell!

You want to lower the price of health care? Take a look what Mississippi has done. In 2004, Mississippi and its Governor Haley Barbour took on the task of reigning in the malpractice abuse in their state. Malpractice liability insurance premiums dropped by 41% and claims dropped by more than 90%.

Why is that not even being considered by Democrats in Washington? Must not hurt the feelings of the trial lawyers, a key enabler of Democrat candidates I guess.

It takes Obama 6-8 months to decide if he will give his Generals in Afghanistan the troops requested. But he wants to dismantle the best health care in the world in less than 30 days without discussion!

White Flag Flies At The White House...

Obama has gone to great lengths to bankrupt the country through reckless spending, destroy the domestic auto industry, threatened a government takeover of health care and of course his worldwide apology tour. If that was not enough, he has cancelled plans to deploy a missile defense system in Eastern Europe and essentially, given the green light to Iran to proceed with building a nuclear weapon.

The Russians are of course giddy that they have forced the weak POTUS to renege on the promised deployment. The Poles and Czechs viewed the presence of American military as an added deterrent towards a newly aggressive Russia - see Georgia.

Now they see America as a country that cannot be trusted. Well, at least they see Obama as such.

I find it interesting that Obama has so quickly abandoned our allies in Eastern Europe to appease Russia, while at the same time Russia is actively engaging and arming countries in the Americas. Chief among these is the little dictatorship of Venezuela.

He has also steadfastly refused to acknowledge that what happened in Honduras is NOT a coup, but a lawful removal of a would-be socialist dictator. It really makes you wonder what makes Obama so eager to side with tyrants, aggressors and socialists throughout the world.

Who Are The Real Racists?

We are told that any opposition to President Obama is racist. And anyone that opposes wasteful government spending, ACORN corruption, tax cheats writing tax laws or a government takeover of health care is a racist. If you attend a tea party protest, obviously you are a racist. If you believe true freedom exists only when you free yourself from the government plantation, well, quite naturally, you are a racist.

When liberals cannot debate the facts, they rely on personal attacks. Truth is a stranger to them. Its like light to a vampire.

The reason so many people oppose the current administration has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with their actions. Wasn't that what Martin Luther King argued quite passionately for in his speeches, that we judge a man by the quality of his character?

But that doesn't match up with the left's template. "Conservatives want to starve children. They want to force the elderly to eat dog food. They hate minorities!"

When in reality, its the liberal policies that are currently being pushed that are much more likely to cause the early demise of grandma. Or in the case of auto dealers or insurance salesmen, put you out of business. Or keep you stuck on the government plantation living in government housing and trying to live off of government handouts taken from fellow citizens. Who are the real racists here? People determined to keep you living in poverty as useful idiots to the liberal cause, or those trying to free you to a better life?

Government will never make you prosperous. Only hard work, education and a God-inspired willingness to change can do that. Taking money from one group to give it to another simply equalizes the misery. You will never succeed in life by stealing from someone else, even if it is the government doing the taking!

I was off on Monday and decided to take in a movie. I got my times mixed up and ended up watching Whiteout, since that was the only film starting within the next 45 minutes. With the exception of the first 10 minutes featuring Kate Beckinsale climbing in the shower, which had absolutely no bearing on the film I might add, the film was a complete waste of $7.25. Plus of course the $100 or so I spent for my fruit punch.

Before the film started, there was a preview for a new docudrama called the Age Of Stupid. I thought it a very appropriate title since it is yet another Al Gore inspired "global warming" propaganda film. There will be a big event around 9/21 in theaters throughout the world to promote and show this piece of garbage. All the pretty people are apart of this, who doesn't want to "save the planet" in real life, especially if they don't get to do it onscreen quite often.

I really thought this scam had been thoroughly debunked. I am shocked and dismayed that there are still Al Gore disciples trying to fool people into thinking that they are somehow "destroying the planet" when they drive their SUV to the store. I posted a couple of days ago videos from James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles visiting an ACORN office in Baltimore. Posing as a prostitute and boyfriend/aspiring politician, they were given detailed advice on how to avoid taxes and money laundering while operating a brother with underage girls from El Salvador. This undercover operation was repeated in Washington DC with the National ACORN leadership saying at first it was an isolated incident, and then that the filmmakers had edited it to make the nuts look bad. That was after all involved employees were supposedly fired.

Are fearless filmmakers have been threatened by a Democrat attorney general with prosecution. He obviously gets marching orders from Washington. We can't have our favorite army of nuts look bad to the general public. That might rile up the people and force politicians to stop funding this horribly corrupt organization.

Now they are back with a 3rd video from New York City. Now once might be isolated. Twice might be coincidence. But how do you explain three instances, in major ACORN offices, where they advise people how to break the law. Do you want YOUR tax dollars funding this kind of behavior?

You wouldn't know it by watching the state run media, but over a million patriots converged on Washington this weekend to protest the race to destroy our great nation. Growing out of the Tea Party tax protests, people have had enough of out of control spending, corruption, lies, government takeovers and high taxes.

At least the foreign press was paying attention.

This is too much. ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) reps are caught ON CAMERA advising a prostitute and her associate (a future politician) on how to purchase a house, open a brothel with underage ILLEGAL girls from El Salvador, avoid Federal taxes by claiming deductions as a performing artist and funneling money to her politician friend.

ACORN has received over $31 MILLION in Federal funds since 1998 and are due millions more in stimulus funds. They are accused of massive voter fraud in multiple states in support of Democrat candidates and causes. Obama has a history of advising them on how best to "organize" for leftist causes and he wants them to "help" with the Census.

The two videos together are about 20 minutes long. If you still think this outfit needs Federal funds (your tax money) after watching these, you are too far gone.

There are many compelling reasons why you should never elect a radical leftist. Chief among these is their complete misunderstanding of how and why to fight a war. At the very least, I knew McCain as POTUS would stand up for our troops. Obama...not so much.

Apparently our rules of engagement (ROE) have been changing in Afghanistan. We can only guess who is making these important decisions in DC. I am sure it is someone with years of combat experience who clearly understands the global threat of radical islam and the strategic importance of our forces currently deployed in Afghanistan.

It seems our Marines and Afghan allies were ambushed in a well-planned attack. When our troops called in for artillery or air support they were denied. Here is the money quote from the story.

Its funny how an ex-Governor from a "backwater" state who is "dumb" and has "no chance of getting elected President" can have so much impact from a simple Facebook post.

The elites in Washington, the media and in both parties need to realize that us ordinary folk are fed up with the waste, corruption and nonexistent leadership in DC.

We've watched the Federal government grow unabated for 60 years. And taxes reach levels that destroy business and retard economic growth. Its time the ivy league trained nitwits that got us in this mess are sent back to their estates, or prison as needed, and let the adults fix the mess they have made.

Your "Stimulus" Dollars At Work...

Sometimes the irony of liberal-think is delicious. The Nashua Telegraph posted an article praising the way stimulus dollars have been spent (wasted) in New Hampshire. Here are a few highlights.

NH has received $336 million so far in "stimulus" stolen (or will be stolen eventually) from taxpayers and redistributed to others. The $336 DOES NOT include $200 million for Medicaid in NH, $160 million for "education aid" and $14 million for unemployment that gave folks an extra $25 a week!

The state has allocated $2 million for 15 months and hired a "Stimulus" Office Director (SOD) at $120,000 annually to track where the "stimulus" money is spent (wasted).

Through June, "Stimulus" dollars have "created or saved" 796 jobs with 700 of those being state workers who were not let go.

The SOD plans to have a website featuring a Google map with "...a push pin next to each community the public can click on to find a full listing of all stimulus grant dollars going to that city or town." Hallelujah!

At $3.5 million a pop, we got a bargain with those "new" 96 jobs. Of course funding for those "new" jobs is most likely temporary, meaning either the city or state will have to find the money after a year or so. Good luck with that.

Maybe you could make the case that some of these projects are worthwhile. But in the worst economy ever (thanks Obama and friends) every single dollar should be back in the hands of taxpayers and not be wasted like this.

If this is the way money is wasted in New Hampshire, I shudder to think what is happening in New York, Illinois and California. Yikes!

Now imagine if that $710 million would have just been given to taxpayers in NH. That's $575 for every resident. Probably three or four times that if you limit it to people who actually pay Federal taxes. What would have been the economic impact of that?

But then again, that doesn't allow you pay off your Democrat cronies and pals in unions and government jobs.

In the real world, if business is slow you cut costs, and when necessary, lay off workers. Why is this NEVER considered when it comes to government?

Let me get this straight...Obama authorizes a $2 BILLION dollar loan to Brazil to drill for oil offshore, but has all but shut down new exploration anywhere in the United States?

If the goal is energy independence, what better way to achieve it by unleashing AMERICAN workers and business and let them harness all the oil, gas, hydroelectric, coal, nuclear power options that the good Lord has given us? What possible motivation could you have to loan another country billions to explore for oil, but forbid your own countrymen the potential tax revenue, job creation and lower fuel bills possible by harvesting our own resources?

UPDATE: Obama supporter and major Dem donor George Soros invested $811 million into Petrobas, Brazil's state-owned oil company, shortly before this loan was announced. Coincidence? Nah, not from this White House.

If the goal is to stop "global warming," why would we be encouraging another country to drill for "evil fossil fuels?" Obviously this is even more evidence that liberals know "global warming" is a scam and no real threat to mankind. We see this by the continuing declines in global temperature and the continued release of studies that refute the terribly biased IPCC work done at the UN and breathlessly reported by the state run media.

For an administration supposedly trying their best to "stimulate" the economy, it seems they are completely oblivious to the opportunities that exist in our own backyard that cost taxpayers nothing!

How many dollars are we going to waste on "global warming" before we realize that there is not a darn thing that man could do, even if he tried, to change the global climate.

Here is one more item to add to the list. 10 senators, their spouses and their staff went out on a "fact finding mission" to Hawaii, Australia and Antarctica. This little 11-day joy ride only cost you and me $500,000. I bet snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef and seeing the penguins was a freakin' blast.

Since 2007, the Democrat-controlled Congress has torpedoed our economy. The last 6 months of ridiculous spending has only made it worse. This is the type of wasteful spending that must be stopped now! Congress critters are NOT royalty. They are public servants, or at least they are supposed to be public servants. It is infuriating to read about this in a time when so many Americans are out of work and struggling to make a living.

I can't lay all the blame on Democrats for this. This was a bipartisan boondoggle with 6 Dems and 4 Republicans. They all should be forced to pay this back and be kicked out of Washington for good!

"Death Panels" and Obamacare...

Democrats have their panties in a wad over comments made by Sarah Palin on her Facebook page. Here is the portion that resonated with me and many Americans:

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

I got a taste of this during my Father's final months on earth. Even at 91, almost 92, he was alert and sharp. He had slipped and broke his hip going to the restroom while in the hospital for a serious inner ear infection. They replaced his hip and he went on to rehabilitation and was preparing to move in with my sister.

The nursing home where he was doing the rehab continued to find things "wrong" with my Father. When I questioned why certain tests or medicine was necessary, I received a flippant response such as "don't worry, Medicare pays for it." That wasn't my question or my concern. My Father had supplemental insurance and would pay for whatever he needed. My question was more about the comfort and care of my Father. A man who had cooked and fed himself for the last 30 years was suddenly deemed a "choke risk" and given a feeding tube! Was this really helping him or the nursing home? I really felt the decisions being made at the nursing home were in the financial best interests and convenience of the nursing home and not my Father.

My Father got a bad case of pneumonia while at the nursing home and languished there before we insisted that they take him to the hospital. The nursing home had pushed all sorts of "what if" end of life scenarios on us and I did not trust them to give my Dad a fighting chance which is all he wanted.

In the hospital ICU, the staff was excellent, going above and beyond to provide care and treatment to get my Father back on his feet. But there was also the end of life planning always entering the equation. My Father was on a ventilator, but was sharp and aware. Aside from his lungs, he was remarkably fit for a 90+ year old. The first attempt to remove the ventilator caused my Father to slip. My Father decided that the next attempt would be the last, since the next progression would probably leave him permanently attached to tubes and wires, and he did not want to "live" that way.

The Sunday we removed the ventilator was awesome. For several hours the entire family visited and laughed with my Father who had seemingly defied the odds yet again and made a remarkable recovery. He started giving orders sending the grand kids back to school and his children back to work. We headed back to our hotel to rest when the calls came. He was slipping again. We hurried back as he drifted off to sleep and into the loving arms of God.

Frankly, I'm not sure my Father would have even received a hip replacement at 91 or a host of other treatments that kept him going strong during his last two decades with us. Under Obamacare, some bureaucrat would probably have denied him numerous times in favor of someone much younger.

I provide this story to illustrate how much government involvement is already encroaching on health decisions. Hospitals, nursing homes and care givers, are making critical life decisions based on how much government provides. How much Medicaid or Medicare pays factors tremendously in the type and quantity of care offered in any given circumstance. This is the ONLY way government can control cost - by rationing it.

Hospitals and doctors then have to charge insurance companies and individuals more to make up for the shortfall from government programs and/or losses from providing care to illegals or the poor who are not on government assistance.

This will only get worse as private insurers are forced out of business and more health care providers leave the field. Rationing is ALWAYS the result of socialized care along with the end of innovation as the profit incentive is removed.

The answer is more free market options not more government. A good start is heath savings accounts (similar to FSAs) that grow tax free, compounding for the life of the individual. They grow quickly during the young years when health care needs are minimal. By the time they are near retirement age, there is a nice nest egg to cover health needs for the remainder of their lives. I would also allow individuals who die young or live long healthy lives to pass their HSAs on to their children. Build "medical wealth" that can be used by the consumers to "shop smart" for their health care needs.

Catastrophic insurance would cover those really worst case scenarios and are a better, cheaper way to manage risk instead of HMOs and PPOs. You also have to address the lottery mentality of ambulance chasing lawyers and their clients suing for malpractice. This is a huge cost for the health industry and counterproductive for society.

The bottom line is government bureaucrats will never be better at managing your money or your health than you are. You would think after 60 years of government screw ups we would learn our lesson.

You really wonder sometimes if the ruling class of liberals in Washington is made up of a bunch of middle school kids playing politics. There are many individual examples of stupidity such as Obama managing to visit 57 US states. And of course calling a police officer doing his job "stupid" when he admits that he doesn't have all the facts. Just why is the POTUS commenting on a local crime anyway? Did his magic teleprompter make him say that?

The idiocy permeates the entire administration. Handing out a mistranslated "reset" button to Russian dignitaries and wrongly formatted DVDs to our friends in England were certainly moments that made me proud of our leadership. And then there is their constant support for a deposed criminal in Honduras along with continually referring to the lawful removal of a thug from office as a coup. Maybe they are afraid that Honduras has set a precedent that might be followed here?

Congress is not exempt from the lunacy. Rushing to pass bills designed to destroy the freedom we enjoy without even reading the darn things is just one of many examples. Democrats refusal to reign in abuse within the mortgage industry that they encouraged and supported is another proud moment.

Since 1989, the US Government has spent $79 BILLION of taxpayer money to study and spread propaganda on the global warming hoax. That is money that could have stayed in the private sector creating jobs and stimulating the economy. Instead it was wasted on Al Gore's fantasy/get-rich-quick scheme.

But for grins, let's assume that we would allow the government to spend our money on something else. What would that buy us?

It would provide private health insurance for nearly 1 million uninsured annually - assuming they were not illegally here or not interested in having medical insurance.

We could have purchased nearly three times as many F22s and lowered the programs overall cost - a program Obama called "a waste" - as if national security and air superiority is a waste.

We could build almost 3,000 more monuments dedicated to tax cheat and Democrat Charlie Rangle!

170 Million school kids could be served free lunches annually!!

You could build nearly 10 nuclear reactors and reduce greenhouse emissions from coal-powered plants.

You could purchase 3 TRILLION pounds of ham annually at twice the retail cost just like Obama's Agricultural Secretary recently did with STIMULUS money.

We could pay for 3,000 wetlands preservation projects like Nancy Pelosi included in the STIMULUS bill.

We could build 23,000 windmills and still not produce enough reliable energy as one nuclear power plant. But boy those birds love crashing into them. And what a lovely way to enhance the environment. Liberals could join hands and dance around each windmill and sing songs praising mother earth. That would be swell!

I'm just trying to get my hands around what Thomas Jefferson and our Founding Fathers might say if they saw how much money was stolen from citizens and wasted every year. They truly would be appalled.

In 2007, Obama joined the Senate in a Democrat takeover of both houses. Based on our laws, Congress owns the purse strings for our government. So effectively, Obama and his Democrat minions owned the economy from 2007 forward.

What was the economy like at the start of 2007?
Unemployment - 4.5%
Dow - 14,000
Deficit - $190 Billion and declining

What has two and a half years of Democrat control of Congress plus 6 months of Obama brought us?
Unemployment - 9.7%*
Dow - 9,000
Deficit - $1.8 TRILLION and growing

*That 9.7% figure has always seemed low to me. So I did more checking to see if they were properly counting people who had given up and/or exhausted their benefits. It seems my suspicion was warranted. If you look at the combined totals, the numbers are depressing.

Michigan is actually above 19% along with 8 other states 15% or higher (Oregon: 18.4%, California: 17.7%, Rhode Island: 17.1%, South Carolina: 16.8%, Tennessee: 15.7%, Florida: 15.6 %, Arizona: 15.5% and Nevada: 15.2%! Yikes!

The great economist Walter Williams is estimating it closer to 20% nationally.

I keep hearing Obama tout "jobs saved" and frankly, I have no idea how one would measure that other than pull it out of their less flattering parts.

Everything Obama and Congress has done since January has merely cost jobs and further hampered the natural economic recovery. Spending billions on ACORN and Democrat pet projects does nothing to create private sector jobs or stimulate the economy. Spending millions on pork - quite literally buying ham at twice what you pay at your local supermarket. Does nothing to help spur the economy, but its a nice pay off for Democrat supporters I guess.

Sarah Palin wrote a great op ed in the Washington Post against the insanity of Cap & Tax. We all know that "global warming" is a hoax and a fund raising scheme for the left. Even by their own estimates, the best case cap & tax scenario is a whopping 0.1 degree drop in temperature over the next 90 years from their draconian taxes. Whoopee!!

Not only would it destroy our domestic energy industry, leaving us more vulnerable globally to tyrants, dictators and terrorists, it would be the greatest tax increase in the history of the Republic. Prices for virtually everything would increase to pay for this monster.

So who does the left trot out to attack Palin on this? The failed Presidential candidate from the people's republic of Massachusetts, John Kerry, was assigned the task. I seem to recall that he served in Viet Nam, but don't quote me on that...

Here was his quote:

"The global climate change crisis threatens our economy and our national security in profound ways,"

If you think about it, he is absolutely correct, even though he probably doesn't even know it. This "crisis," if we enact the nonsense pushed by Kerry, Obama and Al Gore, does threaten our economy and national security in profound ways. We will not survive dancing around windmills and solar cells praying to mother earth to supply all our energy needs.

Anyhow on the same topic, the great Mark Steyn hits another one out of the park:

"Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned. … And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the 'age of convenience' was over."

He then got in his limo and was driven to his other palace.
