Cook Organic Not The Planet

I took a few minutes to watch the People's Global Warming March today. Held in New York, it attracted thousands of folks who were demanding... Well, I'm not really sure what they wanted since it varied so much in the time I paid attention. Here are a few highlights.

Koch Brothers Are Evil
I would bet the majority of Americans don't know anything about the Koch brothers. They have the audacity to support organizations that have a stated goal of "advancing liberty and freedom." The Left, seeing the success the Right had at pointing out billionaire George Soros' activities, who has funded many groups that work towards undermining American freedom, decided they needed a nemesis. Since the majority of American billionaires are generally left-leaning, the Koch brothers were chosen as the face of capitalism. Now, at every event their name is cursed in speeches, and seen on nonsensical signs accusing them of all sorts of dastardly deeds. Saul Alinsky would be proud.

We Are The World
You see global warming is not just a local, regional, or even national problem. It is a global problem that requires a global solution. That is why groups from all over the world - The Philippines, South Africa, Australia, Dominican Republic all converged on New York. Presumably, they all took carbon neutral flights.

Who Needs Borders
Not sure how this helps cool the planet, but one of the many recommendations from the marchers was that we should live in a world without borders. The activists should go visit the Texas/Mexico border. Seriously, pitch a tent on either side of the Rio Grande for a few weeks and see how well it goes.

Fracking Is Evil, Solar And Wind Are Better
Besides causing thousands of bird deaths every year, being a visual blight on the landscape, and being the least efficient ways to generate electricity, the "in" crowd still pushes these ridiculous energy fantasies that only survive with massive taxpayer-funded subsidies. Where fracking is allowed, economies are growing and jobs are being created. Oil & gas are still the most efficient ways to move people and products. And don't forget, oil as a raw material is in virtually every consumer product. The activist who was pushing this was from California. Try taking a solar car from California to a global warming march in New York. You might not make it out of California.

SIGN SPOTTED: Miami Is Drowning
Evacuate South Florida! My gosh you would think if the entire city of Miami was under water that the news media would be doing 24/7 coverage of such a major disaster. Miami is only 6 feet above sea level, so even a moderate hurricane could cause flooding. That is true for most coastal cities near tropical regions. Just because major hurricanes are on an historic "pause", is no reason to ignore the potential harm a major hurricane could do in the case of a direct hit. Its a serious issue that has nothing to do with global warming. Simple fact of life, if you choose to live near the ocean in hurricane country, there is a good chance you will experience rain, winds, flooding, and possibly loss of property and life. If you want 100% protection from hurricanes, move.

The myth that melting polar ice (they are expanding not melting) raises sea level can easily be debunked at home. Get a clear glass, place ice in glass, fill with water to a measurable point, and note level. When the ice melts, note the level again. Its so easy a failed presidential candidate should be able to figure it out.

SIGN SPOTTED: Climate Change Our Greatest Threat
Tell that to the Christians and Yazidis of Northern Iraq. Or to the folks in the twin towers on 9/11, or on the ground in Benghazi. I think the folks in Ukraine and Eastern Europe might be more concerned with Russian aggression than another cool Summer. What about the folks in Africa fighting the outbreak of Ebola. Do you think they are worried about an imperceptible, and totally natural, sea level rise of a millimeter annually? And closer to home, how about coal miners who are facing loss of their jobs and financial ruin because of Washington's war on coal?

SIGN SPOTTED: Cook Organic Not The Planet
Cute rhyme, but a complete falsehood. The planet has not warmed in almost 20 years. Its inconvenient, but the truth. And there is little, if anything, that man can do to make it warmer or cooler if he tried. Cooking organic certainly wouldn't make a difference. And with the government shutting down family farms, organic co-ops, and clamping down on private gardening, it may be difficult to even find organic food.

$15 Minimum Wage And Public Ownership Of Corporations
Is The Answer To Global Warming
To her credit, the activist who recommended this course of action admitted being a socialist. And even though we have oodles of evidence to the destructive nature of socialism on the human condition, there are still those that push this nonsense. One only has to look at anything the government owns or runs, to see what will happen - public housing, public transportation, public education, VA, you name it. Without incentive to prosper, nobody works hard. If we actually taught history in schools, we would not continually have to explain this to yet another generation.

Would you pay $10 for a Happy Meal? What about $15 for a sub sandwich? The idea that government can force employers to pay unreasonable wages for unskilled jobs without serious financial consequences for everyone, is a failure of our education system to teach basic economics. Sure, the young burger flipper gets another $8 an hour, but now he has to pay $7 a gallon for gas, his rent goes up 25% and his grocery bill goes up 30%. His smokes now cost him $25 - if the government hasn't banned them outright. In short order, he is back to where he started, if not out of work completely, since his burger joint is forced to close for lack of business. But hey, now the socialists are in charge.  They will fix it.

Its almost as ridiculous as someone believing higher wages, or government ownership of businesses, would change the climate.

Other Signs
Delay=Death, Act Now ...  Turn Towards Utopia ... Planet Over Profit ... USA Get Your Head Out Of The Tar Sand ... Without Hate

Other Highlights
"Consumerism must end."... Bernie Sanders may run for POTUS. ... Volunteers were paid as much as $50 to be there. ... Some students received extra credit for participating in march. ... "Elections must be publicly funded." ... "Stop Capitalism and push community solutions." ... "Global warming is a health crisis." ... "Preserve our Mother Earth." ... "If we don't have peace with nature, we won't have peace with the nations. Nuclear weapons have no place in our future." ... There was a moment of silence followed by screams that were a, "Burglar Alarm for those who have stolen the planet."

And of course the obligatory call to action - "We need collective action channeled into militant nonviolent action." (Because most militant movements are nonviolent.)

Social justice, sustainability, and climate justice, are all code words for redistribution of wealth, population control, and socialism. The antidote for poverty is not to make everyone equally destitute. The solution is freedom. Capitalism, the idea that people are free to buy, sell, save, and invest as they see fit, produced the most prosperous nation in the history of the planet in less than 200 years. America has the richest "poor" folks in the world. The spread of economic prosperity is only hindered by government interference, regulating or taxing businesses to the point of extinction. When government bureaucrats pick winners and losers, everyone loses.

The ideas behind those three code words have launched some of the most demonic pogroms in world history - eugenics, population control, and in the future, the grotesquely named Complete Lives System, which allows the state to ration health care, picking life's winners and losers.

The only way to achieve what these marchers ultimately want - their idea of a Utopia, is a massive and oppressive global state that micromanages every detail of your existence, and even life itself. Their mythical sustainable world would require a final solution to weed out the "undesirables" and thin the herd. Only then will Mother Nature be happy again.

Frankly, I prefer the way they did it on Logan's Run. Oddly, many of the protestors wore similar clothes to those seen in the film.

Angry Weather?

“The most powerful voice is that of Mother Nature, the increasing storms, floods, droughts and other extreme events. We’re paying the cost of carbon every day and we should put a price on carbon in markets and put a price on denial in the political system.” - Al Gore - Bloomberg October 18, 2013

One of the silliest claims put forward by warmanistas is the notion that more human activity - you know, like people exhaling, causes more destructive and frequent storms. Its hard to fathom how any sane person could believe this nonsense. And its even harder to imagine that people who supposedly care about the environment would confuse climate and weather. But I digress.

In my previous post, I linked to a report showing how hurricanes have not increased in frequency or intensity, much to Al Gore's dismay. Now I want to share another inconvenient truth - tornadoes are at an all time low. At the current pace, there may be less than 1000 tornadoes for 2013 - currently 797 through November 2, 2013. Compare that to the 2194 (2008) and 2122 (through November 2, 2008). That SHOULD be good news. Who wants destructive weather, right? I can only imagine how this will be spun as proof that global warming continues.

And the bad news for the warmanistas keeps coming. There has been A 17 year pause in warming that some suggest might continue for another 30 years - as if anyone really knows anything for sure. Either way, the idea that a one or two degree fluctuation in either direction was somehow catastrophic, has always amused me.

Human activity has very little impact on global climate. And he has absolutely nothing to do with making the weather "angry" - whatever the heck that means to the left. But let's play along with the idea that man is somehow responsible for making the weather mad. If that is the case, it would seem we've made it so mad, its locked itself in its room.

The Truth Will Set You Free

The warmanistas cling to their hockey stick charts and climate models as if their very salvation depends on them. With every failed prediction - an ice free Arctic, more dangerous and frequent hurricanes, skyrocketing temperatures, they flail away with excuses as to why the climate does not behave as the climate charlatans predicted. Its almost comical, if it weren't so deadly serious.

The last few weeks there have been numerous setbacks for global warming "believers" both here and abroad. All these stories give me hope that the world is waking up.

Australians voted in large numbers for new leadership primarily as a rejection of the climate tax hysteria. This should lead to a meaningful reduction in the spiraling costs of just about everything down under.

In Europe, the climate scam has been devastating to the region. Germans pay almost 3x per kilowatt hour compared to Americans. Naturally, these asinine policies have led many businesses to move or expand elsewhere. Since Americans have largely resisted the climate taxes, we have attracted businesses because of lower energy costs. This is in spite of the sputtering economy, and the looming threat of Obamacare. This shows how much more of a threat carbon taxes are to an economy as compared to socialized medicine. Neither scheme solves anything. And they both are an egregious attack on individual freedom. However, taxing energy consumption, or CO2 production, gives government permission to literally regulate, forbid, or tax every aspect of human existence. The Global Warming Scam is one of the biggest threats to freedom ever imagined.

In the Fall 2013 edition of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, MIT Professor Richard S. Lindzen, Ph.D. said,
Global climate alarmism has been costly to society, and it has the potential to be vastly more costly. It has also been damaging to science, as scientists adjust both data and even theory to accommodate politically correct positions.
Climategate opened a lot of eyes to the corruption in the scientific community all over the world. The warmanistas are fond of labeling anyone that dares to speak against their belief system as being owned by Big Oil. The irony is that if your sugar daddy is Big Government, you are far more likely to have your science compromised. Its very doubtful that any big progressive government will spend a dime in support of any scientific effort that undermines the state's position. Those carbon taxes guarantee that the last bit of wealth in private hands gets transferred to the governing elites. They are not about to let go of that revenue stream no matter what damage it does to the economy.

In Lindzen's article he presents an image (Figure 1) that shows the problem with Global Warming in a nutshell. Scientists make ambiguous or meaningless statements on climate change. Activists spin these into alarming statements. I would add that the media takes these, along with any weather anomaly, and scares the public unnecessarily. And then politicians do their damage by passing unconstitutional laws and raising taxes in the name of saving the earth. They then provide even more funding to scientists to continue the corrupt cycle.

Lindzen ends the article with a statement I heartily agree with,
Global Warming has become a religion. A surprisingly large number of people seem to have concluded that all that gives meaning to their lives is the belief that they are saving the planet by paying attention to their carbon footprint.
Its sad but true. A whole generation has been raised on environmental propaganda based on some very bad science. The adults of today, were the kids yesterday, who were told daily that Mommy was killing Polar Bears because she drove an SUV. They are suffering under the delusion that somehow, modern life is contributing to the destruction of the planet. The indoctrination is so strong that some see humans as a parasite, sucking the very life out of the planet. Lies like that can only come from the pit of Hell. And the only way they can find some sort of peace is a sacrifice to mother earth. We're just one great leap forward away from progressives launching Carrousel, where those that turn 30 (or others deemed undesirable) are vaporized. Save the planet, right?

As the scam unravels, governments scurry to keep the nightmare alive. The upcoming UN report from the IPCC is already being criticized by governments because it undermines the cause. Truth does not matter to them. All that matters is that government continues confiscating all the wealth possible, while causing unnecessary hardship for the people of the world, especially in developing nations that need energy.

This has gone long, so I will wrap it up with this great video. Few people have really looked at the cost and benefit of fighting global warming. As we have seen in so many political/social wars - on poverty, drugs etc., we rarely win. Instead, we waste trillions in the process, and in the case of poverty, simply turn the proverbial safety net into a hammock. So what is the cost/benefit of a global warming war?

Topher Field shows that it is 50 times more expensive to try and stop global warming than it would be to make changes and adapt to the higher or lower temperatures if it happens. Quite frankly, it is just as likely, based on reduced sunspot activity, that we may be heading into a prolonged cooling phase. But they already tried to sell that in the 70s, and it didn't sound scary enough.

Enjoy!

This Is The Biggest Storm Since...

I pray for all those who have experienced loss during Hurricane Sandy and hope every family can recover quickly. Its never pleasant when a natural disaster occurs. I'm sure the people in New York and New Jersey see about as many hurricanes as I see major ice storms in Dallas, Texas. And its certainly not easy to prepare for something that occurs so infrequently.

Even before landfall, the warmanistas were already staking their claims to Hurricane Sandy as proof that global warming exists - and we must take immediate action to stop it. Sadly, their plans often include laundering taxpayer money through bankrupt "green" companies, which hardly seems like a prudent strategy to combat global warming, or to help a struggling economy.

In times like these, we need a little perspective. Accurate records for Atlantic hurricanes only go back so far for the United States. But there are reports of storms hitting the East Coast all the way back to the 12th Century. There were 3 storms in 1888 that hit New England, and 2 in 1869, 1893, 1954, 1972, and 1985. The further back in time, the less accurate the records. There is no way of knowing how many storms made landfall that went unnoticed, or were not recorded for posterity.

It wasn't that long ago that a certain well known climate charlatan was making movies, receiving a Nobel Prize, and telling the UN that hurricanes were getting more frequent and more dangerous. He was back on camera this week, using his best scary voice to tell us that Hurricane Sandy was, “a disturbing sign of things to come.”

In a very disturbing speech to the UN in 2005, and a noteworthy performance that should have won an Academy Award, Al Gore breathlessly blamed George Bush for everything from 9/11 to Hurricane Katrina, in the latter case, apparently the local government in Democrat-controlled New Orleans gets a pass for their ineptness. The global warming pope himself made the following outrageous predictions.

Now, the scientific community is warning us that the average hurricane will continue to get stronger because of global warming. A scientist at MIT has published a study well before this tragedy showing that since the 1970s, hurricanes in both the Atlantic and the Pacific have increased in duration, and in intensity, by about 50%. The newscasters told us after Hurricane Katrina went over the southern tip of Florida that there was a particular danger for the Gulf Coast of the hurricanes becoming much stronger because it was passing over unusually warm waters in the gulf.

Poppycock. Its almost as if nature likes mocking Al Gore. Every wacky prediction he makes falls short. Since his proclamation of doom, the US has gone 7 years without a major hurricane (Cat 3+) making landfall - blowing past the previous record set between 1900 and 1906. That does not mean that hurricanes cannot, or will not be dangerous. But the assertion that global warming is making them more frequent and/or more dangerous is obviously flawed.

Technology, such as satellites, computers, and aircraft, has made it much easier to spot and track hurricanes and tropical storms in the modern era. Media proliferation has made it much more accessible for everyone to be aware of hurricanes globally. That would help explain any perceived increase in storms in the last 40 years. 2005 was a deadly year for major hurricanes with 7 in the Atlantic. But even without the advantages of modern technology, that number was matched in 1961, and surpassed in 1950 (8). In the preceding centuries, that number may have been eclipsed several times, but we simply have no accurate records to prove this.

Hurricane Sandy, as destructive as it may have been, was just barely a Category 1 storm when it hit the coast. I'm sure architects and engineers never considered the once a decade possibility of a direct hit from a hurricane as they were building New Jersey and New York. Just like New Orleans would probably not be placed below sea level in prime hurricane country if it were being founded today. Hopefully, in both cases, rebuilding will take into consideration future storms.

Hurricanes come, natural disasters occur, and as Solomon says, there is nothing new under the Sun. Speaking of Scripture, in that same speech to the UN, Al Gore invoked God's Word. He quotes Proverbs 29:18 - where there is no vision, the people perish. He cuts the verse short and uses the King James Version. When you look at this same complete verse in other translations, the meaning becomes much more dynamic.

When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. Proverbs 29:18 NLT

Stay with me while I tie this together. God's Law is simply summed up as - Love your Heavenly Father with all your heart, and love others as yourself. If you love God and others, you do not lie. Nor do you sow fear and deception. Its one thing to promote a belief that mankind is destroying the planet, however wrong and misguided that may be. It takes on a much more sinister nature when you knowingly deceive folks, and then try to profit from it.

There are many reasons why Americans have rejected the global warming hysteria. Chief among these is that many Americans are Christians who know to reject fear, and those that use it for political purposes. I will never be motivated by fear or deception - both weapons of the enemy.

Quite a few Americans, like myself, have also been on this planet long enough to recognize that not every single weather event is the biggest, worst, coldest, warmest, or longest that has ever been. When we hear claims like these, we recognize them as laughable exaggerations. And when these weather events are politicized to push a "green" agenda, we rightly recognize them as propaganda.

Climate change has happened in the past, and will continue to occur in the future, with or without man. And there are far too many factors beyond man's control that influence the global climate, chief among these is the Sun. It is irresponsible to utilize a weather event, such as Hurricane Sandy, and the suffering of those that endure it, to score cheap political points for a highly controversial belief system. But then again idolatry, placing creation and even man above its Creator, has been around since the beginning of time. Solomon had it right, there is nothing new under the Sun.

Policy By Panic - Global Warming

Did you catch this random act of journalism in Slate discussing global warming's outlandish predictions?

I'm shocked to see the author, Bjørn Lomborg, stray slightly from global warming orthodoxy. Look for Bjørn to be shunned at the next earth worship service.

And while its nice to have some fun with this piece, the author makes a good point about policy by panic. Fear mongering is not an acceptable path to change hearts or minds. Because of all the wild claims made by the left over the years (hole in ozone, DDT, Alar, new ice age, mortgage crisis etc), many like myself are automatically suspicious of any prediction that comes from the Progressive-Democrat-Media complex. When you have folks eager to "never let a crisis go to waste," it is highly probable that they would create one, real or imagined, to implement their agenda.

The man-made global warming crisis gave me great pause when I first heard about it. I remember the outlandish claims in the 70s - that we would have to move to Mexico to avoid freezing to death in the coming ice age. Thankfully, that idiocy died rather quickly. But the myth of man-caused global warming will not end so gracefully. There is just too much money at stake, too many UN agendas to implement, too many 3rd world countries to plunder, and too many reputations at risk for this nonsense to finally die.

Commonsense should tell you that the sheer size of the Earth, a planet that is over 70% water, and with only a small percentage of land inhabited by humans in any appreciable density, would limit mankind from having much, if any influence on the GLOBAL climate. Even a limited scientific knowledge should cause you to consider the Sun, which is beyond man's control, as the most significant driver of any climate change. And even if you focused exclusively on greenhouse gasses, why would you not focus on water vapor, which is by far the largest greenhouse gas, instead of CO2? And of course there is the Earth's historical record, which includes long periods that were both much colder and much warmer than now, and sometimes much higher concentrations of CO2, should make any wild claims of man's influence on global temperatures suspect.

But this blog is not to dispute the why or why not of global warming. Climate change has happened in the past, and will happen again, with or without man's help. This is about the propaganda war waged by the left.

When Al Gore and other warmanistas claimed after Hurricane Katrina that global warming would cause ever increasing numbers of storms like Katrina, with ever increasing destructive power, it was laughable. We are now almost 2500 days (2488) removed from the last Cat 3 or above storm making US landfall. This far surpasses the last record (1900-1906 - 2231 days). But do you hear any "believer" apologizing for their obvious fear mongering? No. They are still pushing this nonsense with ever increasing fervor and even more ridiculous claims.

This is where Bjørn hits the nail on the head. Every incident, climate related or not, seems to get blamed on global warming. BTW - I know the warmanistas have been running away from the global warming term, but as far as I am concerned, they invented and own it, and I will use it as long as free speech is still allowed. The warmanistas use every drought, rain shower, snowstorm, tornado, heat wave, cold snap as absolute proof of global warming, in spite of sometimes overwhelming evidence against such claims. They make ridiculous predictions about more frequent hurricanes or the Arctic sans ice, and are never called out when these predictions are epic failures. If they want anyone to take this issue seriously, the propaganda needs to end.

IF the climate is changing, let REAL scientists do their job figuring it out apart from the politics and agitprop. Let them examine all factors before automatically blaming man. You may just find that the climate is getting warmer no matter what man does. If that is the case, it hardly seems prudent to tax the world into the stone age, leaving the common folks, those not enjoying the Carbon Tax/Cap & Trade windfall, incapable of adapting to their changing environment.

Global Warming Updates...

Global warming agitation has had numerous setbacks recently. First, it was the corrupted data that hid the decline in temperatures. And of course mother nature hasn't cooperated as temperatures continue to defy the weather "experts" and decline - sometimes in spectacular fashion.

So it is with great sadness we find that the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the outfit that was created to profit, I mean trade carbon offsets has closed. The organization was a who's who of Democrats and their cronies hoping to enlarge their fortunes by forcing Americans to pay for the right to use energy. Here is an excerpt from a
great article on the subject.

Its
(CCX) planning was initiated thanks to a $345,000 grant from the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation to Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management to study and test the viability of a future carbon-credit market.

This transaction occurred when a young community organizer, Barack Obama, served on the Joyce Foundation's board of directors, along with his mentor, present White House advisor Valerie Jarret. Eventually Joyce Foundation startup contributions for CCX totaled about $1.1 million, and its president, Paula DiPerna, later left the organization to become executive vice president of CCX.

If you are awake and breathing, you should have figured it out by now. The global warming campaign has nothing to do with changing the climate. The reality is that the climate is way too large and complex for man to have any real impact, except on a very local level. It has always been about transferring wealth first to poor nations, who are kept in squalor by the green Nazis and not allowed to industrialize and develop. A side benefit would be to transfer wealth into the hands of Barack Obama, Al Gore, Franklin Gaines and a host of liberals who like wealth, as long as they are the only ones that have it. For the industrialized world, we get to see our way of living destroyed and our hard earned tax dollars sent overseas. Bring on Cap and Tax!!

But don't be alarmed, the green army marches on. Spending billions in taxpayer dollars and burning tons of fossil fuels, they converged on "sunny" Cancun to decide the fate of the world. You would think people so concerned about the environment could figure out a way to video conference. But that wouldn't be any fun.

And quite predictably, Cancun experienced the coldest temperatures in a century during the conference and toga party. It has become a tradition that whenever green Nazis meet, count on some defiant weather extreme.

For an update on these freedom-killing zombies at the UN, here is an excerpt from an article on the Cancun confab.

That the Cancun summit was never a climate conference at all has become increasingly obvious. Even before it began, IPCC Working Group III co-chair Ottmar Edenhofer said, COP-16 is actually “one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War…. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy.” In fact, it has “almost nothing to do with the environmental policy.” Its real purpose “is redistributing the world's wealth and natural resources.”

I can sleep safer at night knowing the blue berets and the green Nazis are out there working to save the world!

If You Go To War, Go To Win...

There are many compelling reasons why you should never elect a radical leftist. Chief among these is their complete misunderstanding of how and why to fight a war. At the very least, I knew McCain as POTUS would stand up for our troops. Obama...not so much.

Apparently our rules of engagement (ROE) have been changing in Afghanistan. We can only guess who is making these important decisions in DC. I am sure it is someone with years of combat experience who clearly understands the global threat of radical islam and the strategic importance of our forces currently deployed in Afghanistan.

It seems our Marines and Afghan allies were ambushed in a well-planned attack. When our troops called in for artillery or air support they were denied. Here is the money quote from the story.

U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines — despite being told repeatedly that they weren't near the village.
'We're pinned down:' 4 U.S. Marines die in Afghan ambush

Four Marines and several Afghan soldiers died needlessly because some bureaucrat thought he/she could fight a "friendlier and safer" war. War is messy. But it gets even bloodier when intellectuals, pinheads and politicians suddenly think they are the second coming Julius Caesar.

Cap & Trade...

The Tax Foundation has come up with a nifty tool to estimate how much you will have to pay Al Gore to fight his global warming scam. You can calculate your own"contribution" right here. The sad thing is that all this money will be taken out of the economy and do NOTHING to change the climate.

Liberals are pushing hard for a government takeover of health care right now which is rather frightening. Health care is already screwed up precisely because government has its tentacles all over the industry. I saw this firsthand during my Father's final weeks.

But as scary as government run health care might be, the added taxes and regulation that would have to be created to fight "global warming" would be catastrophic. Every sector of the economy would be attacked. Every human activity would have to be monitored, regulated and taxed. There would be absolutely no freedom and no privacy in an Obama/Al Gore run war against the sun.

My annual donation to the Al Gore Enrichment Fund came to just under $1,000. By my estimates the annual government theft would come to over $250 billion stripped from the economy. Now if Obama and Al Gore could only figure out who to pay to make the sun not shine so much...

Questions For Big Al Gore...

In your propaganda film, you argued of an imminent loss of oceanfront due to dramatically rising water levels. If that is true, why did you purchase an expensive oceanfront condo in San Francisco?

How is man, who accounts in any appreciable density for less than 1% of the entire earth's volume, capable of changing the GLOBAL climate more than the sun, oceans, earth core, volcanic activity or any of a hundred other much greater climate influences?

Why has the IPCC report been so horribly wrong in its predictions of escalating temperatures when in fact global temperatures have been steadily declining this decade?

How can the "global warming" debate be over if there never has been one? How can there be consensus when 30,000 scientists (and growing) disagree with the IPCC and your fanatical chicken little predictions?

Why are you so afraid to debate the Viscount Monckton of Brenchley on this most important topic. Why did you prevent Congress from allowing this most distinguished former science advisor to the British government to testify in opposition?

If the cap and trade nonsense is passed, how much more will you personally earn profiteering from this hoax?

In the face of imminent disaster from "global warming", how do you sleep at night with energy use that is 20 times the average household and with an irresponsible lifestyle that in no way sets the standard you would impose on most Americans if your punishing energy taxes were passed?

50 Reasons To Leave The Global Warming Religion...

Christopher Monckton lays the smack down on the global warming nuts in a letter to Congress. In it, he enumerates 50 issues (or Red Flags) that raise serious questions about testimony heard by Congress on this most important issue. It is lengthy, but worth a read. Here is the link and some highlights (emphasis is mine):

From the intro...

However, my notes of the hearing indicate that certain national and international executive agencies may have materially, serially, seriously, and successfully misled your Congress for several years about the imagined extent, anthropogenic component, and effects of “global warming”.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in his farewell address to the nation in 1961, gave a warning “that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

He said –“Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. ... The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.”

Nearly all of your nation’s scholars and scientists owe their primary livelihood to the involuntary generosity of the taxpayer. Some of your rent-seeking, scientific-technological elite, taking willful and shameless advantage of the taxpayer’s largesse and of the scientific illiteracy that is now widespread, are mightily enriching themselves by misleading your Congress into appropriating disproportionately large sums to permit them to address the non-problem of anthropogenic “global warming".

1. Global temperature has been falling rapidly for seven full years: however, this fact appears to have been kept from the Committee, and the director of an agency whose own global-temperature dataset clearly shows the seven-year decline repeatedly failed to admit when questioned by the Committee that there have indeed been seven full years of global cooling, raising the question why, on the central issue of the rate at which “global warming” is or is not occurring, the official was reluctant to admit the seven-year cooling that his own agency’s global-temperature dataset plainly shows.

10. In one of nine serious “errors” identified by a UK High Court Judge in Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Truth, it is suggested that in the palaeoclimate it was CO2 concentration that changed before global temperature, when in fact it was temperature that changed before CO2 concentration, raising the question why Congress (and Her Majesty’s Government) still treats Gore as though he were a ranking expert on “global warming”.

34. The senior official who testified before the Committee said in his testimony that “global warming” would cause various catastrophes, including sea-level rise, ocean acidification, changes in rainfall, increased frequency and intensity of extreme-weather events such as heatwaves, coastal storms, droughts and heavy downpours, coastal erosion and inundation, changes in crop yields and ocean productivity and in climate-related diseases and pests, raising the question why he did not cite Schulte (2008), who found that of 539 papers containing the search phrase “global climate change” and published since the beginning of 2004 not one had offered any evidence for any catastrophe arising from “global warming”.

35. Professor Nils-Axel Moerner, who has published 520 papers on sea-level rise, concluded in a 2004 study of the Maldives that there had been no sea-level rise there for 1250 years, and that global sea level in the 21st century would rise by 8 inches, as it did in the 20th century, raising the question how the chairman of the Committee had been misled – perhaps by officials – into the belief that sea-level rise, particularly in the Maldives, would be likely to occur in a dangerous degree as a result of “global warming”.

50. Carbon dioxide concentration has been up to 20 times today’s levels in the palaeoclimate, and yet the creatures of the ocean survived and flourished, which they could not have done if the higher carbon dioxide concentration had appreciably acidified the oceans, raising the question how a member of the Committee had been misled into believing that current geologically-low concentrations of carbon dioxide could cause any appreciable or dangerous acidification of the oceans, which remain pronouncedly alkaline and contain 70 times as much carbon dioxide as the atmosphere.

And my favorite nugget...

37. In 2005, in An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore predicted that sea level would rise imminently by 20 feet, inundating coastlines worldwide, leading a UK High Court Judge to find that “the Armageddon scenario that he depicts is not based on any scientific view”, raising the question why in 2005 he spent $4m on a condo in the St. Regis Tower, San Francisco, just feet from the ocean at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Al Gore. Although almost any liberal could share the title.

Monckton covers almost every issue pertaining to this debate. As you know, literally everything has been blamed on global warming from more storms to more tropical diseases. He touches on most of these and refutes some of the nonsense being pushed by the left.

There are many reasons I dismissed the whole "global warming" crap. Having lived through the 70s ice age scare, taught me a valuable lesson on how bad science can be used to push public policy. But even more important is my understanding of how significantly large and intricate the earth, its oceans and atmosphere are, coupled with the influence of that great big yellow ball in the sky, make it laughable to think that mankind could even change the climate if he tried!

It boggles my mind that ANYONE can take someone like Al Gore seriously on such an important issue. While he is preaching fear, he is completely ignoring his own warnings of coming doom by investing in waterfront property. And while enriching himself from these scare tactics, he does nothing to change his own behavior or reduce his own "carbon footprint".

The final straw was the race to impose draconian taxes to "stop global warming". This religion is not about saving the planet. It is simply a power play. Through new confiscatory taxation, liberals intend to control energy and therefore control mankind.

They have gone way past their 15 minutes.

Big Al's Got Some Splainin' To Do...

From NASA yesterday:

Since the 1890s, surface temperatures have risen faster in the Arctic than in other regions of the world. In part, these rapid changes could be due to changes in aerosol levels. Clean air regulations passed in the 1970s, for example, have likely accelerated warming by diminishing the cooling effect of sulfates.

You can read all the details at the link, but basically all those aerosol products that the left DEMANDED that we stop producing in the 70s, are now likely the cause of increased temperatures in the arctic. Another in a long line of liberal unintended consequences such as more malaria after DDT was demonized and excessive water use by forced conversion to "low flow" toilets.

It should be obvious to those paying attention that "global warming," or climate change, is the least understood field in science. There are so many conflicting reports and assumptions that any actions taken by governments to stop "global warming" are futile at best and economically devastating at worst. This does not mean that anyone advocates polluting the planet. Commonsense actions to reduce pollution can be undertaken without destroying the economy or industry, and without the help of massive government regulations.

Big Al needs to fold up his "cap and trade" play set and go home. The greatest scam the world has ever known is rapidly falling apart.

Earth Hour...

Ah yes, today is the day we are supposed to shut off our lights and imitate those 3rd world nations that lack basic necessities of life. It does not matter the stress we place on the electrical grid. It doesn't matter that we are blessed with ample resources to produce more than 100x the electricity that we actually need.

No, none of that matters. Because we care. We care so much we are willing to live like the Bushmen of the Kalahari, well, for at least an hour anyway. And what will this accomplish? Not a damn thing. But a few raving mad socialists will feel like they did something. Just like those wristbands and ribbons worn by the fashionable, symbolism feels so much better than actually doing something that matters.

And what really makes all this laughable is that it is suppose to raise awareness for "global warming" even though the climate has been cooling for over a decade. But, there are still idiots in Washington that believe little ol' mankind is capable of changing the climate on this massive planet. What arrogance you must have to believe that man can change the climate, and even worse, that he could reverse the process.

Ignore that giant yellow ball in the sky. Ignore gravity, the magnetic fields, geothermal changes in the earth's core, volcanoes, solar radiation, the other 96% of greenhouse gasses that exist naturally, instead let's single out mankind and blame him.

So in honor of this wonderful hour, I give you my song Earth Hour, sung to the tune of Earth Angel.

Earth Hour,
Earth Hour,
I will be blind!
My darling dear,
In darkness confined.
I'm just a fool,
A fool who's being screwed.

Earth Hour,
Earth Hour,
And Big Al Gore,
Love him forever
And evermore.
He's just a fool,
A fool without a clue.

The Nail In The Coffin?

Dr. Will Happer is a Professor of Physics at Princeton University. On February 25th he testified before the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Among his comments:

Sometimes the obsession for control of the climate got a bit out of hand, as in the Aztec state, where the local scientific/religious establishment of the year 1500 had long since announced that the debate was over and that at least 20,000 human sacrifices a year were needed to keep the sun moving, the rain falling, and to stop climate change.

Sounds like Al Gore must have some Aztec blood in him with his desire to bleed humanity of all their wealth in a futile effort to change the climate.

Al Gore likes to display graphs of temperature and CO2 concentrations over the past million years or so, showing that when CO2 rises, the temperature also rises. Doesn’t this prove that the temperature is driven by CO2? Absolutely not! If you look carefully at these records, you find that first the temperature goes up, and then the CO2 concentration of the atmosphere goes up. There is a delay between a temperature increase and a CO2 increase of about 800 years.

The emphasis is mine. This point needs to be mentioned often because it is so vitally important to understanding the role of CO2 in the atmosphere.

CO2 is not a pollutant and it is not a poison and we should not corrupt the English language by depriving "pollutant" and "poison" of their original meaning. Our exhaled breath contains about 4% CO2. That is 40,000 parts per million, or about 100 times the current atmospheric concentration. CO2 is absolutely essential for life on earth.

Exactly when did CO2 get such a bad rap anyway?

Many of you may know that in 2007 a British Court ruled that if Al Gore’s book, "An Inconvenient Truth," was used in public schools, the children had to be told of eleven particularly troubling inaccuracies. You can easily find a list of the inaccuracies on the internet, but I will mention one. The court ruled that it was not possible to attribute hurricane Katrina to CO2. Indeed, had we taken a few of the many billions of dollars we have been spending on climate change research and propaganda and fixed the dykes and pumps around the New Orleans, most of the damage from Hurricane Katrina could have been avoided.

The emphasis is added by me. This is at the heart of the "global warming" hysteria. We are spending billions trying to solve a mythical problem that we can do nothing about. That money would be much better served back in the hands of consumers, investors and businesses to stimulate the economy.

Plants, and our own primate ancestors evolved when the levels of atmospheric CO2 were about 1000 ppm, a level that we will probably not reach by burning fossil fuels, and far above our current level of about 380 ppm.

Dr. Happer goes on to discuss how much better crops fare with higher levels of C02. It is fascinating testimony that will get little play in the mainstream press.

More and more brave scientists are stepping forward and speaking out against this nonsense. In fact, over 30,000 American scientists (including over 9,000 Ph.Ds) have signed a petition that states in part:

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the forseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of earth.

President Obama and the liberals in Congress are already salivating over the opportunity to spend billions stolen from citizens in the form of carbon taxes. They also continue to spend billions trying to prove this global warming nonsense when the evidence is overwhelmingly against them and more keeps coming.

Here is a fantastic article from Human Events that details the corruption of some NASA scientists in their support of global warming and the false claim that certain individuals were "muzzled" by the Bush administration. Its worth a quick read.

By now it should be obvious to even the casual observer what this whole global warming scare is all about - more government control and higher taxes. No rational individual after reviewing all the dissenting evidence would try to destroy our economy based on this hoax.

The Hoax That Will Not Die...

On one of the coldest days in Washington, and on a day when most of the country is covered in ice, Big Al Gore, champion of the Global Warming Hoax, testified to Congress that we are all going to die unless we turn the world into a Socialist Utopia designed by Big Al.

Never mind that hundreds of scientists, many who originally worked on the UN studies have recanted. Never mind that temperatures have been falling for at least a decade. Never mind that CO2 is a very, very minor player in the greenhouse effect. Never mind that the largest source of heat for planet earth comes from the sun and man can do nothing to prevent that. Never mind all scientific evidence or even the need for further research. In Big Al's feeble mind, the issue is settled.

I guess if you have made millions pushing a hoax and stand to make millions more from it, you set all reason aside.

Here is an excellent link to the story behind the global warming scam. The key paragraph is below with the link.

But the tide was turning with Roger Revelle. He was forced out at Harvard at 65 and returned to California and a semi retirement position at UCSD. There he had time to rethink Carbon Dioxide and the greenhouse effect. The man who had inspired Al Gore and given the UN the basic research it needed to launch its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was having second thoughts. In 1988 he wrote two cautionary letters to members of Congress. He wrote, "My own personal belief is that we should wait another 10 or 20 years to really be convinced that the greenhouse effect is going to be important for human beings, in both positive and negative ways." He added, "…we should be careful not to arouse too much alarm until the rate and amount of warming becomes clearer."
THE AMAZING STORY BEHIND THE GLOBAL WARMING SCAM

Before any government starts taking your money to stop "global warming," learn the facts. This is all about power and money. Big Al and his liberal buddies want to destroy America's prosperity. Do not let them succeed!
